tried a couple of different ways to remove the screen on different Valks.  Today I found that a Craftsman 1/4" extension (the larger end) will fit tightly enough in the plastic screen tube that you can move it side to side while gently pulling on the extension and remove it without damage.  Turns out the one I removed today had a hole in it so it will have to be replaced, but I have removed and re-installed some in the past.
YMMV, this is the real Craftsman extension, others may work too.

+1 on that Thunderbolt. I discovered the same thing a few years ago. My screen was screwed up as well, but it's a good technique to have in reserve if you have trouble removing a screen. It may be a good screen, just stuck, but you won't know that until you get it out.  Wink
