On November 12th, I became the proud new owner of a 1998 Valkyrie Standard.  Sadly, it had pretty much been sitting for about two years.  It does run... but I am a bit compulsive about taking stuff apart and making sure everything is right before I go roaring off into the sunset. None the less, it's mine now and I have torn into it with vigor.

I have been secretly lurking this and Daniel Meyers site for about three years now... it's time to buy a Valk and join.

New Valk pictures here... http://www.culleynet.com/zen/1998-valkyrie-tourer/

CONGRATS!!!! 98 blue/creme!!!! The most highly sought after and valuable in all of
Valkyriedom!!! (also the fastest, but don't let that get out!) Good choice on the rear
tire, too. Mine also sat for a while before I bought it. Still working out a few bugs and
some of my chrome shall never shine again, but it's still the goodest...I mean bestest
ride there is on 2 wheels!! I'll check out your website when I have a little more time.

if you don't find the info on a Valk here, you don't need to know!

nice looking bike, any idea what brand the bags are? They look a bit larger than Hondaline-nicely painted too.

I would bet that the previous owner had a CB radio mounted on the handle bars.  The guy I bought my cycle from had the same kind of set up.  That was the FIRST thing to go, along with the 3" PVC cup holder!!  I actually kept that, just to remind me that sometimes when you make your own things, you might think they look cool, but in reality they look pretty dumb.....  Just remember never to ride with me.  I have a tendency to take ANY road my GPS shows to be twisty.  I’ve sometimes ended up on dirt roads!!  Just ask NITRO.  He doesn’t follow me anymore……

My Valkyrie was real tired when I got it, but I like it OK now though...

Actually I would say they are a bit smaller than the OEM Bags... they do not have hinges... which I find troublesome.

Sounds like you have Interstate bags on your scoot.  They don't have hinges beause they wouldn't clear the trunk when you raise them if they had hinges.

They looked deeper to me but maybe not as long
not IS bags as the lid isn't the same
at any rate, they do look good.

Welcome to the asylum there 385.  You're gonna like it here.
Visit the tech forum when you get a chance.  But, after looking at your pictures, you have probably found that portion of this site.  Smiley

Heidi-ho, (that wanton German woman of ill repute!!)

I am transferring knowledge from my experience with the GL1500 Goldwing.  Taking what I have learned about parts and technique... and rolling that into a Valk...

BTW... I used to live in Friendswood...

Friendswood is where HotGlue and FlamingoBabe live.  Gatherin' O the Fools first week in April 2011.
It is the best time you can have with your pants on...  wait.....did that come out.. ?  hehe

And Jess, you have lived in some great places here in TX.  There are worse places to be STUCK in than TN.

385, hope to share some wind with ya some day.

We travel to San Marcos several times a year as the wife loves the outlet mall for buying grandbabies clothes and stuff. Welcome to the club and come see us in the Houston area.

STUCK here in Tn

I guess it's a matter of perspective, but from where I sit, being stuck in the great state of Tennessee doesn't sound too bad at all.    Smiley
