One of the best Rides I was ever on was based out of Marlington WV. Where ole Smokin himself was almost at this weekend. Saw some tall bridges and one of the biggest Receptor Dishes on the Planet. That thing was huge, both the tall bridge and the Receptor Dish.

Yea and there was that wood screw in the new rear tire. That Radio Telescope was huge. Here's a Website a person can see all about it. Green Bank Telescope. http://www.gb.nrao.edu/gbt/Movie of the Moon made with the Radio Telescope at Green Bank and the Telescope at Aricebo Puerto Rico. http://www.gb.nrao.edu/gbt/movies/moon_movie_2.mov

I suspected the reason we could not get a cell phone signal at this place had to do with the Green Bank Telescope. National Radio Quiet Zone. Whoever heard of that, but here it is. Learn something everyday. http://www.gb.nrao.edu/nrqz/nrqz.shtml

I did'nt do any research however my guess would be something to do with Homeland Security When Don ( Highbinder ) and I was scouting out " The Whiskey Run " last year I took a picture of my bike at the gates of Fort Knox the guard came out and made me delete the picture....Folks that can't live without cell phones could not live in that area the VOAI Rally was there a couple years ago with folk's from all over with every cell provider known to man and none of them would get a signal .I used a pay phone for the first time in several years on that ride just to check in with the family.

Big Al, I flew a Cessna 170 under the New River Gorge bridge many years ago. Also rock climbed and repelled the clifts on the side. And of course John Denver's song brought a tear to my eye! I would move back in a heartbeat except that Lois and I have found a piece of Heaven here in East Tenn. Thanks for sharing! Bernie

Al,
If you ever get a chance then ride NM 12 and NM32 on the west side of the state and you can see a forest of those things. Made that ride twice. Once during the day and once at night. Absolutely NOTHING out there but Elk and Javelinas.
