No P238, P220 here..  Definitely a Cadillac.  Mine's a little big, but I'm a big guy.

Only wish I had more in the clip.  7 + 1 in the chamber.  But the muzzle blast and noise from the .45 should help.

Jimmy, while original mags for P220 were 7-round, there are both sig factory and aftermarket 8-round mags for the pistol.  I have a 220 and 5-6 factory 7-rounders, and have recently been looking to get a few more. 

The word on the street is that the aftermarket 8-rounders are touch and go; some will take 8, but some you have to hammer the last round in, and then it won't strip off to feed on the first slide-rack.  Sometimes the slide won't stay open on last round. Others work fine. Note there are also a couple of 10-rounders (that will stick out the bottom.... no info on these).

The consensus is the Novak 8-round aftermarket mag is as good as factory ($23).

Disco, I don't know the Sig 238 (a copy of a Colt 380).  All Sigs are top notch.  But expensive, only 6 rounds of underpowered 380, and only one mag comes with the pistol.

For cheaper, and not much bigger how about the Glock 26 (9mm 10-rd)?  (or 27 .40 9-rd)

Hi Jess and thanks.  

I have a Glock 23 that's had a little work done    and it's great in a fanny pack.  It even works well in my tank bag, but by the time I peel all the velcro out of the way to free the darned thing, I may as well just throw the bag at 'em.  My fed buddy says all their guys carry the 27 as backup.  Dad has one of those, but I really don't like the sub-compact, even with the pinky extender on the mag.  It's violent to shoot and too thick to be a pocket gun.  Although it's not a pant pocket gun, my "want to" says P232.  It would be fine in a bomber/riding jacket, but it's not enough smaller than my 23 to justify the jump down from .40 to .380.  If only Sig offered the 232 in .40 or .45...  So, if I'm going pocket and don't want plastic, what other options are there?  

Right now, I'm leaning toward the P238 SAS (Sig Anti-Snag).  http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCatalogProductDetails.aspx?categoryid=67&productid=291  I saw one today at $599.  That's a pretty good discount from MSRP, but still makes me wince.  

BTW, someone is making a 7-round magazine w/pinky grip for the 238.  It must add at least 1/2 inch to the grip length.  I held one yesterday and it was sweet.

I have no experience with pocket 380s, but I would lean toward the truly tiny and less expensive Keltec P3AT or Ruger LCP.

Thanks for all the research, Jess.  I have friends who love their LCPs and KTs, but they don't do anything for me.  Kinda like motorcycles - that's why they make so many to choose from.  Heard great things about Kahr - never owned one.  Heard love/hate stories about Taurus - never owned one.  If I go plastic .380, it will likely be the bodyguard.  $399.00 MSRP with laser is strong, but the DAO will be something new.
