I can’t say I ‘almost fell for it’ but, I did send an e-mail to the “seller”.  The Valk was selling locally on Craigslist so no alarm bells went off. I sent an e-mail saying I live close enough to go see it, but when I got the reply, I remembered seeing several threads at the VRCC about this same bike scam.  Of course the dude said he couldn’t meet me and the bike was sealed at some airport terminal in Florida and shipping was already paid for. Just send the money. Wow! Do people really go for these scams?

They do the same scam with a beautiful VTX.  If no one were sending money, they wouldn't be doing this as long as they have.

I wonder why it continues?  It must be easy enough for law enforcement to track these listings and wired payments.  I guess each loss is just not big enough to justify throwing manpower at it (??)

At one time about every large city marketarea had a craigslist ad for that same Valkyarie.  i saw it numerous times when I was shopping for mine.  I still see it occasionally when I'm surfing for parts or market values.  I always report that when i see it.  The asking price is always such an "unbelievably  good deal"

When the entire ad is a picture, it almost guarantees a scam.  They do this to avoid searches for duplicate listings based on email addresses or other text.  It is a way of posting the same ad in dozens of places while making it seem like a local bike.

I find it hard to believe that it does continue and that people are sending in their money...    It is "too good to be true" and that is one big slap in the face clue.  I have seen the VTX as well... and it is a nice one.

I agree and wonder if that is what makes it posted so much rather than them getting people to send in their money.  I would "hope" that they don't get much, if any, money replies and are only posting like that because it is so easy.  I guess just one responder with money would be worth posting it so many times...

Hey KW, have you come down to Florida yet????
If you haven't, you might as well wait a bit until the Michigan weather we have been having here goes away. Angry Grin
Give us a shout when you do. I rode by your campground the other day.

No, we're still in Michigan. . . .  Cry And, its 24 degrees and snowing right now. UGH!

I’m not sure when we’re going to be down this year. . . I have to have a medical procedure done. We’re hoping it will be THIS year, but it may not be until January or even February. We sure WANT to come down though. Last year I was sitting on the deck in my shorts when it was 48 down there. When we left Michigan it was 14 degrees and there was 1 1/2 feet of snow on the ground  Cheesy

Most likely we’re looking at the middle of February sometime, but sadly, we won’t be able to bring the Valk down this year (first time in  3 or 4 years.) All I have is an open trailer now and I’m not going to run her through the stinking salt this stinking state piles on the road! Unless I can figure out someway to shrink wrap it?

I’ll give you a holler. . . .   Oh, we’re not 'IN' that campground brother. We in the “Woods” behind it.
