I'm assuming you are just BS'ing here.

If not, studs are slicker than snot on a glass door knob in the snow and ice.

I have used steel studded tires before in the wintery mix we get here and they are way better then plain snowtires. but we can only run them from nov 1 to march 1.

They are not so good on dry pavement.

My father inlaw who was a biker sence the 1930's had a ski and tire chain set up in the 50's there are pictures but after he died they went to my wife's sister never to be seen again. His harley was all me had up into the 60's my wife was born in '56 and brought home from the hospital in a sidecar, Try that today!

This was all here in the St.Louis Area. cooldude

To start the video off right,  you have to say " Hold my beer... now watch this...."

Ski on the front and a chain on the rear....yeah, we did that a few times as kids.  We took some good tumbles before figuring out we needed to lock the front wheel to keep it from trying to rotate. We used to take bets on who could stay up the longest....a bet I never won.

But the most fun was taking my bud's old Model A out to the lake after it froze over. It had the top cut off, we put chains on it and would make a run for the edge of the ice from a boat ramp. Just as it hit the ice my buddy would spin the steering wheel and we would go round and round halfway across the lake. That, and homemade iceboats using old bedrails for runners. What a blast. I'm convinced there is such a thing as Guardian Angels!!

My dad used to tell me tales about doing exactly that - they'd go to the junk yard, buy the cheapest carcass of a car they could find (no motor, etc), sometimes for just a couple bucks (he was born in '27). They'd have to push the car to the lake, and up the hills surrounding the lake. No boat ramps. He also told me that they had to have at least partially working brakes, that added to the fun. He told me there's at least a half-dozen cars, sitting on the bottom of the lakes in the Kenosha, Wisconsin area.

Thanks for the memories!
