and this is the main reason I got a 2d one..... to split my riding between them, and to have a backup if one fails to go for some reason.  They are beginning to get old, and some parts are harder to find, but good maintenance and attention to detail on a reliable machine should have no problem keeping them going.

But how about 82 years?   Shocked ('99 IS + 82 = 2081)

Can you imagine having the same car for 82 years!
I guess it was no longer under warranty...

Mr. Allen Swift (Springfield , MA.) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Picadilly P1
Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928.

He drove it up until his death last year.....at the age of 102 !!!
He was the oldest living owner of a car from brand new.  Just thought you'd like to
see it.

He donated it to a Springfield museum after his death. It has 170,000 miles on
it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is
in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years)
That's approximately 2000 miles per year...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I can't remember what I got for graduation, if anything, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Rolls.

Jess, I guess we think alike!
Three Valks, two riders.

Not quite in the same catagory as the fellow with his Rolls but I did buy this Mustang new in 1988.

Still have it but it has been off the road for a couple years now. Wrecked it back in 2002 {my fault, sort of} but couldn't bear to part with it. I'm sure it woulda totalled if I involved the insurance so I didn't bother. I crank it up & run it around the neighborhood every 2 weeks or so. Brought my son home from the hospital in it & it was Kim & my primary "family car" for 11 years. Has 171K miles on it & still runs like brand new. 5.0, 5 speed LX hatchback.
After the wreck.

Torn down.

Smashed the water pump, p/s pump & a/c compressor too. Bought a "donor car" for the sheet metal & all else new OE stuff.

Lowered it, put 17" Rohs, Cervinis body kit & a '93 Cobra spoiler on it. Went through the interior too.

Maybe one day I'll finish it, but it aint eatin' nothing & I keep it out of the weather. It is still driveable, just have to get a tag & reinstate the insurance.
Guess I'm just crazy for them old Fox body Mustangs!

This is a 1948 Ford f-1 ( the 1st. year for the f models ). My Dad traded a Plymonth pickup, (Yes
they made a pickup) for it used in 1952. I was 2 years old, I still have it. It needs restored but it is now all original (except the tires) and in very good shape and runs very good to be almost 63 years old.
I and my son plan on restoreing soon and keeping it in the family.
I know it needs restored, but I enjoy it like it is, it brings back alot of good memories of times
with my dad as a kid.

I take it she doesn't read the VRCC....being in the "oldest vehicle" thread could earn you the the cast iron skillet  award.     Grin
