Has anyone tried these bulbs ? I copied this from Chet's pages.
Sylvania 2397 bulbs from Auto Zone. These are about 20% brighter than regular 1157's

Indeed, 2397's are 20% brighter (high-filament) than 1157's, however 12½% brighter than the 21/5W OEM's. Inexplicably, longer bulb life (better) than OEM 21/5W, but far less than an 1157.

The important thing is the "low" rating since that is the running part of the equation and you don't want to be running without a taillight. Longer life equals less changing.
You get out behind the bike in the night and any of those brake light numbers do a very good job. So I don't consider that much of a factor.
Honda bulbs have an intermediate support for the filament inside the bulb to help counteract the vibration it receives. That's why they are so much more expensive.

Thought I would post that bulb thinking brighter is better. Honestly RONW I didn't catch "brighter than 1157's" I read right over that. Ricky-D I do know about the extra filament but didn't think about bulb life until you guys brought it up in your post.
