which is why I debated whether I should post this. I probably shouldn't have, but it makes me so angry seeing these photos that I can't think of a punishment too severe for the DPRK (the name of this sh*t hole is even one of the great ironies in our world today). Some of the photos are graphic...... http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/06/remembering_the_korean_war_60.html

Yes the Korean war was harsh to say the least, lest we forget.
But now it's time for "Festivus,....the holiday for the rest of us". Got your aluminum pole up yet?

It's no joke... communism sucks. They are murdering bastards, and each and every one should be stood against a wall and shot. Of course, North Korean soldiers and people have no choices (except for suicide or starvation). And brainwashing in that cesspool is from cradle to grave.
I found it interesting that the British Royal Marine Commandos were carrying US M1 Garands (#37).
In retrospect of 50 years...MacArthur may well have been right and Truman wrong... we should have nuked North Korea out of existence and used the threat to keep the Chinese on their side of the border. Neither the Russians or Chinese were prepared or capable of wholesale nuclear war; we were. Even post-nuke, the people of North Korea would have been far better off than it has turned out for them.

MacArthur was spot on with his views as to what should have been done. Trouble is, politicians rule and they have cost us dearly time ans time again. dubs

My uncle died in the Korean War. Apparently some freak accident where they were in a tank backed up against a bank somehow blocking the exhaust and the tank filled up with CO. All dead inside. I still have the green wooden box that my grandmother received from the military with his personal effects in my attic.

All wars are harsh, your perspective depending entirely upon where you are at the time. If politicians had to fight all the wars that they get us into, there would be no more wars...JTL

After being stuck in the States as a 1st Lt. serving as the Army liaison officer at a tank manufacturing plant in Berwick, PA during WWII, Dad asked to be activated and sent to Korea when the N. Koreans invaded. He spent over a year there and was involved in the defense of the Pusan Perimeter.
He wouldn't talk much about his time there, but he did say he had no desire to ever go back.
