The big Regional hospital I work for says no raises for anyone in 2011.  Angry We are out of money they say. Maybe if we stop building multi million $$ hospitals, a baseball Stadium, and a new exit ramp of the interstate, they would have some. Plus we have way to many chiefs for everyones job. Its not a big raise anyway, 3% of our base pay. Still in the poverty level but thats why I work 3 jobs i guess.  Undecided  We just had our evel last week and got high remarks. If you get in trouble, who get no raise. Well hell we were good, surprisingly, and still got no raise. At least we coulda had fun and got in trouble. Which is our plan for this year!  crazy2 They been on us to cut out of our budget till we have min to work with but i bet the big 6 figure workers are doing just fine. They  say the payments are not coming in like they should. Which is bull cause the bill already reaches home before i get out of the hospital! lol Then if you do not pay upon reciept, you go to collection. We were one of the top, Top 100 places in Ind to work in 2010. I got picked to do the survey a few min ago. Me and my partner filled it out together and I bet they will not even make the list this year.  cooldude F'n f'ers.  Evil

I'm sure some will say "at least you have a job."  But the truth is, what happened to you sucked.  Same thing happened to us, right after the company posted that profits were UP.  Don't that beat all?

Big boss said in e mail, no raises would save $7-10 million and 150-200 jobs for 2011. Dont seem to add up to me. We took a $5-7K pay cut on 02 already. We got some of it back when we went to Wage & Hour.  Wink Oh well, i'm high on the senoriety list. Was plan on taking a huge leap in 2012 to quit and head west but with the new EMS standards coming out in 12-13 I may have to stay till after that. I havent had a raise at my other job in 7 yrs which is fine for what i do since I make a few $$ more for him pounding nails then i do saving lives.  Undecided

Our company hasn't had one in three years now. Job's probably safe for at least a couple of years yet, but don't know if I'll make it to retirement. I'm 54

1% the last two years is all we got. I figured out my retirement and I am going to lose $400 a month by retiring. My pension gets a 1% a year raise (used to get more but underfunded,,, Thanks Goverment Motors). I think I will be riding alot more this summer, a PT job will easily make up that $400, if I want it.

I didn't get one either, Fudgie, they froze the cola on my pension the year after I retired.  Guess I need a part time job, or skip a trip or two.  Sad  Hoser

I can identify with you Fudgie.

Mr. Obama, our President froze all salaries for the Federal Gov. workers.

Then as I work for a Federal Prime Contractor for the Gov't.

We are froze for 2 years as well.

Since our raises were slated in Jan. 2011 and already approved, it will be 3 years before I get a raise.

No ifs ands or buts no raise for 3 years.

The company I work for got the highest rating ever according to the Knox News Sentinel, 95% rating

that equates for a 54 million dollar award fee to the Prime Contractor Operating a Dept of Energy

Plant.

Bonuses will be handed out to a few of those in management, including me, but it ain't a raise that

you can build on to help in retirement years.

But they know people won't leave because of all the job killing policies the Govt. is pursuing.

Tax and trade, health care reform for employers to figure in as cost and less workers due to same.

Tax cuts only lasting 2 more years, so they don't take the risk.

How about them apples, but since I make more than poverty level and have no payments on

anything whatsoever I will probably make it.

But those with kids in college, mortgages, and with Gas going up past 4 bucks a gallon, people

will be suffering greatly.

This is a given the Dems are or will be out on their preverbial arses at least as far as the Presidency

is concerned.

Vote early and vote often.

Here is another great liberal idea from Hugo Chavez and Maxine the Queen, or want to be Queen.
One reason our ancestors bonded together to form a more perfect Union and leave despots like her
behind.

No raises at my place for the last 3 years.  Been tough.  Employers had such bad years in 09 and 10 that even though profits MAY have been up a little, they still have not recouped the bad years of 09 and 10.  My boss personally floated my company $200K to keep everyone working.  We only have 11 employees counting the Big Chief.

I am glad to have a job, and one that I really like.  It's all economy dependant guys.  We're in a global market.  You have to make your company money.  Period.

Think about THAT a while, and decide if you should do something different for you and your family.

15% cut in salary for past year and a half. For 2011 moved up to only 5% cut for the next year, but at the same time increased deductions for everything else... and State income tax went up... so still = about 15% reduction. No cost of living adjustment in 8 years... except for the 15% adjustment downward.

Sounds like my work too Fudgie.  Our bonuses crazy2 are a joke.  After taxes $65 bucks.  I drive a truck delivering liquid hazmat.  We get paid by percentage.  A few years ago they gave everyone a top raise of 25%, which is what we top out at.  Great, you would think.  Then they cut the rates severely.  Six of one, half dozen of another.  Hang in there bro.

Fudgie, join us retirees.

NO COLA per Bam Bam.

More withholdings taken out now, both Fed and State

So in the long run, out of my retirement, SS, and Purple Heart $$$$, I lost around $90 per month.   I just did the math in my head, so it could be more,  but not less.

Just have to tighten my belt a little tighter.   Then Medicare decided not to pay at the level it did in prior years, so I figure, I'm out about $300 a month.

Right now I'm not able to work a 2nd job, or in this case, 1st job.

Fulton County, GA froze school bus driver pay last year and this year. PLUS we got hit with 5 furlough days.

The dumb moron county bean counters just "FOUND" $44 million dollars. I bet not one of them got an ass kicking for "losing" the money in the first place.

A couple of months after taking the job I have now (at much less base pay than my previous job) the economy fell apart and they announced no pay raises. This is the 3rd year we won't have one. I'm in sales so I have to work a lot harder to try and make up the difference in commission. Good thing I do my work heartily unto the Lord, not unto man.   Wink

my wife works for a major hospital here in eau claire.  tonight is their company christmass party.  they didn't have one last year, also canceled the summer party for the last two years because of the lack of money.  needless to say, they just built on a huge parking garage, new emergancy wing, and a cancer wing.  (yeah, no money... don't ever believe that one!!)

were i work i haven't seen a wage increase for two years.  management believes in this T.P.S. thing that says we should make product just in time for the truck to pick it up.  well, the truck drivers are starting to get ticked off waiting several hours to get product loaded, and my big question is: if we're making product "just in time", why do we need that huge new warehouse??  seems that some times management makes problems to solve for themselves, that way they can justify giving themselves a raise for solving the problems they've created!!!

Cola means cost of living increase, the state cut it off in 2004, the first year of my retirement.  In Kansas it was tied to the cost of living index.  Like I said, it is no more, even though they promise it will be back "when the economy improves." My a$$. At least they haven't cut it yet. Sorry for you guys that have faced a cut in pay. Did I mention my health insurance has increased from 800 bux a month to 1300 in two years, I've got six months to go to get medicare services, which Obama promises to cut also.  I had to sell my Interstate a couple years ago when they raised my health insurance payment.  They ain't getting my Tourer, though.    Hoser   Angry

With a medics pay, a cola really wont make that much difference  Cheesy . Our city FD starts out more then our top tier paramedics, for a 1/4 of what we do.

Fudgie,

I feel your pain. I got my first raise in 6 years last year.  I did get better than most in my company but after six years, it still could have been better.  Of course, I've had 3 sons in some type of school or college the whole time and still ahve 2.5 years til the youngest is done.

It's the same all around, work harder for less money with  little chance for raise or bonus every couple of years.

I live in a "Right to work state."  Which effectively means I can be fired, any time any reason.  The laws are also set up that Unions have no teeth here.

We've had friends here in Florida that got fired because they got hurt on the job.  Try that in most any other state.

Actually, Florida is also an "at will" state.  "At will" means that the employer can terminate an employee at will, for any reason, without cause, at any time and for any reason.....or no reason.

Unless you work under a contract, or a collectively bargined contract (unionized), the employer has all the rights.....and the employee has absolutely zero rights.

People find that hard to believe...and most (perticularly anti-union people) refuse to believe, but it's the law....and it's also the truth.

one problem with the unions, EVERYONE MUST STICK TOGETHER!!!  hense the name -UNION-.

my father worked for the cement union in chicago back in the sixties, and early seventies.  when the teamsters struck, so did the electricians, and the plumbers, and the garbage guys, and so on, and so on........  that's the way unions are supose to work.

i can honestly say thanks to God for my job.
i'll have 34 years in march. i am currently doing the job that 4 people did earlier this year. i have no college to add to my resume. i work longer and harder than those that do. i get the raises, (when available) they get the promotions.
none of it seems fair, but i still have my 34 years. i am thankful to have a job, and real thankful when i can take a friend out to lunch and pay for it.

Hoser, i dont know that i am ready to plan 1 less ride this year, i will give up some of the other crap in my life to keep my rides. i catch myself wondering, how much do i need to live, and get in the rides i enjoy. i just pray daily i keep my health and move on through life affecting those i can and day by day get closer to vacation so i can ride all week.
