Glad to see a Liberal giving Sarah a leg up.
I’ve never heard of Yahoo News being called “a liberal”. You know she did not mean a reference to Jewish case of Child Stealing.
You say that like “blood libel” is a legitimate charge. The media are idiots and Willow don't trust them either.
Here's a Dem actually shooting something for a campaign ad.
You don't hear anything about that.
Bobbo you are just as bad as those that hate and disrespect Gov. Palin.
But bad publicity is free publicity and you are helpng make her the next Prez of the United States
Congratulations.
There are quite a few Democrats that are Pro-Second Amendment. Palin makes herself look bad. I cannot do anything to help that along!

I often see a slant on the news yahoo puts out, I also see an agenda from other websites. two days ago libs would be telling us palin is 'stupid' now we're being told she's a history major? blood libel charges have been leveled at other groups besides jews, including christians, knights templar, witches, heretics, wiccans driuds pagans, yada yada. to say its exclusively jewish is wrong. I just read a description of an alleged ritual murder, I don't need to tell you thats just sick

They just had a Dem congressman on from the east. During the campaign, he said that the Rep governor candidate from FL "should be shot". NOW, he is calling for the conservatives to talk nice!
Why is it that that never makes the liberal news?
Why is it that the Dem Leadership Council in 04 had a map just like Palins, with the crosshairs on it, targeting Repubs, but that does not make the news either?
Why is it OK for Dems to talk that way about Repubs, but the Repubs need to be quiet?

For that matter, ya' wanna get into non-PC quotes, how 'bout this zinger from The Chosen One: "We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back." Can you imagine the gnashing of teeth THAT comment woulda made had it been made by someone on the other side? I know it's to say this, but this whole PC thing has gotten just WAAAAAAY outta hand...

On a slightly more serious note... I consider myself to be a reasonably well educated man of the world...
And... I had no clue that the term "blood libel" was deemed offensive to certain groups. I would have used it quite freely myself were I in her position.
Does that make me a bad person too?
I mean, seriously, there are so many land mine words these days it's gotten ridiculous, it'd be almost impossible to make any public statements using anything but the blandest of language without insulting SOMEONE...

The left-socialists view every tragedy in America as an opportunity to spread their agenda, with spin and deceit. This was in fact a cornerstone of Rahm Emanuel's tactics as chief of staff. Every single tragedy that comes along is viewed by the left as an opportunity to use the emotion it generates to forward their agenda of big government, more laws, more regulation, more spending, more nanny state, and to attack the right. If you haven't seen this in the past, look for it in the future. It is there every time.
So we immediately get hurrah's for more and greater security for hundreds of politicians, limitations of free speech, cheap shots at Sarah Palin (who did nothing different than democrats) and the right in general, and cries for many more "reasonable" gun control laws.
The facts so far show the Arizona shooter to have been pretty apolitical, and simply a mentally disturbed mass murderer. That's all. No new or existing laws would have prevented what happened, or can prevent it in the future. It is an established fact that if you are willing to trade your life, you can kill almost anyone.
Sarah Palin's entire statement was very good and well thought out. It was also reasonable and not an incitement to riot like those on the left. These attacks on Palin and strong political speech from the right are an attempt to make people forget what just happened in the November election. It has sidetracked Congress this week.... hopefully not next week.

I mean, seriously, there are so many land mine words these days it's gotten ridiculous, it'd be almost impossible to make any public statements using anything but the blandest of language without insulting SOMEONE... +1 Serk Bobbo, even the Anti Defamation League in their response sad this.. “While the term ‘blood-libel’ has become part of the English parlance to refer to someone being falsely accused, we wish that Palin had used another phrase, instead of one fraught with pain in Jewish history.” Alan Dershowitz, Harvard Professor ... yea even he defended Palin... The term “blood libel” has taken on a broad metaphorical meaning in public discourse. Although its historical origins were in theologically based false accusations against the Jews and the Jewish People, its current usage is far broader. I myself have used it to describe false accusations against the State of Israel by the Goldstone Report. There is nothing improper and certainly nothing anti-Semitic in Sarah Palin using the term to characterize what she reasonably believes are false accusations that her words or images may have caused a mentally disturbed individual to kill and maim. The fact that two of the victims are Jewish is utterly irrelevant to the propriety of using this widely used term. Both the ADL and Dershowitz pretty much admit that the term has gone beyond its old meaning in modern english. In hind sight perhaps she should have used a different wording... but screw it. Im no Palin groupie by any means, but everyone with any cognitive ability hearing her full remarks understood her meaning. To say otherwise is just grasping at straws.

I’m with oss on this one...... could care less about palin, or the media. I just want to ride...... As for politics, some of you people should think for yourselves and not listen to the preacher type radio personalities that "beat a dead horse" to oblivion. The news media has taken this Tucson shooting and has made a scandal out of it. I would like to know how the congresswoman is doing more then the political views of the idiot that shot her. As for palin, I wish she would just die and go away, along with EVERY politician that would put “cross hairs” over the image of their competitor.

Honestly, "In the cross hairs," and "I have them in my cross hairs," have been in very common use for a long time. Those expressions have seldom if ever in public speaking inferred a desire for someone to be physically shot.

The more she's allowed to talk, the further she digs herself in. http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news/politics/palin-blood-libel-comment-1-17-2011This reminds me of when Hillary claimed that it was a "vast right wing conspiracy” that caused Billy to look like an idiot. I guess the political manifesto states that when you do or say something that shows you’re an idiot, quickly blame the faceless members of a different group instead of taking responsibility.

I, also, don’t have a problem with defending against false accusations, but using analogies that have specific and painful meanings simply shows her to be callous or ignorant. Those are two qualities we don’t need in politicians.

A poor choice of words in a political sense? Perhaps. Not done to offend anyone in the context of her statement. Even the broader usage of the term (which was the context she used it in) has been acknowledged by many in the Jewish community who are not supporters of her.
This is much ado about nothing IMHO. Political point scoring at its best.
Certainly not as flammable as Obama's "Clinging to guns and religion" statement though. Which under any interpretation of his words clearly offended many in our society.

Look, I know he was not referring to actually putting repubs in the back of the bus! I cut him that much slack. My point is, you, and the other progressive, liberal media, are not cutting Palin the same slack. I know she was not literally referring to the Jewish reference. Why are you so closed minded to not see that too? Or, do you refuse to because of your political bias? Why not? MP

IF he had said “the Republicans have to sit in the back of the bus”, that would have a different meaning. He didn’t say that, and your bigotry might be showing a bit by suggesting he did. He said “the Republicans have driven the economy into a ditch”. There was no mention of a bus. I’m not part of the “progressive liberal media”, and I don’t cut any slack when a politician says something that exposes their stupidity, ignorance, or callousness.

While I agree that the Republicans are to blame for massive spending during the past decade. I also fault the entire housing crisis on the Dems. So, both parties drove us into the proverbial ditch.
