She put herself a Taurus .38 sp revolver in layaway last night. Her lifetime handgun lic is being processed and should have it in early Feb.
She wanted something reliable and 'think' proof if the $hit hit the fan. Plus she is working in Marion, for you Hoosiers, you know what I mean.  Undecided  Maybe in a few years she'll get a Bersa.  cooldude
The bait shop musta had 60 handguns. I'm gonna go back and get me another but not sure which one. I dont need another carry gun since I got my BT+. They have a nice Berreta auto and a Bersa 40 cal. The Ruger and S&W had to many buttons and didnt fit as nice as the Bersa. Then I found a .22 auto with 2 barrels, which looks VERY similar to the one the x got in the divorce.  Shocked Be good to go shoot rats in the barn. I'm leaning towards revolvers since i'm not sure what I would do with 2 autos.  Undecided They had a S&W 686 I liked. Dad has one and killed a few deer with it. Held a Ruger Blackhawk in 44 mag. It was huge! She thought it was ugly. Most of the guns I looked at were right at $400. New and used.
Was planning on getting more ink next month, but I guess I can buy a gun instead.  Evil

It's easy to have all the guns you need and impossible to have all the guns you want. Grin If you wind up with two autos you gotta try shootin' with one in each hand. A while back I went through 28 rounds of .45acp with one of my Paras in each hand. My shootin' wasn't great but it sure was fun!!!!!

Brian,

Good to hear Kit's gonna protect herself  cooldude

As for another auto...  You've already got the BT.380+ (love my BT.380CC), but do yourself a favor and wrap yer mitt around a BT9UCPRO (13 round)...  1000+ rounds through mine, and not one FTF, FTE, or stovepipe...  Best bang for the buck I've found  Wink

Like they say, once you get a Bersa, you'll get another!  cooldude Seems like thats all I look for when when we go to a gun store. I like the compact models but most dont have a hammer. Thats what I like about the Bersa's. I'll have to see if they have one of them 'Dog.

I'm thinkin 28 rounds will just about do the trick no matter what.
I did my 1911 and P-38 like that once. .45 in the right hand. Thats a good time right there, no matter who you are. Freaked the wife out when I just dumped the .45 into the side of the mountain. She asked if I hit anything I was aiming at. I told her I was aiming at the mountain.
Gun show this weekend and I have a stash-o-cash. Gotta gettem before they pass weird laws.

A small frame .38 is a near perfect carry gun.  I have several handguns, but usually carry my small frame .357 Taurus.  Way to go, Kit. It's in the middle.  cooldude  hoser

So, in light of this..... are you still going to Sturgis alone next year?    Grin

I recommend a 4" bbl (not 6"), mid-size frame .357 revolver, like the Smith 586/686, 19/66 (or Taurus equivalent), or Ruger GP100.  Get adjustable sights, and a rubber grip and a least two speed loaders for the correct revolver.  I prefer blue to stainless, but just get the best price.

Anita has a snub nose 38 sp revolver.  Very simple/fool proof.  She loves it.

I just picked this one up at a local gun show...

Will be getting my permit very soon (have been through the class and submitted prints with the sheriff's office).

Target from my class... Cheesy

Not bad for my second time shooting the gun...and the first time shooting a friend's 22 Ruger revolver.  Cheesy

LOL yep, now she can protect herself when I'm gone!  Grin
The 686 has a 6" barrel, I figure it would be good for hunting.
Not sure yet. I really want ink work done.  Undecided

What do you learn in the class? For Ind lic you dont need a class. Thinking about taking some since my Utah class was fun. They may offer a Personal Protection class, which is all range.

Congrats on you both!

Congrats on you both!

I thought the class was very good.  Started out pretty basic with revolver and auto components, how bullets worked and caliber designations (matching ammo to guns), then worked into some hands on training on both types, loading ammo, ejecting magazine, sighting, jam clearing in both range and real life situations.  Our instructor was pretty good, I thought.  He was ALL ABOUT SAFETY!!!  And tried to bring as much real life into it.  He also does bodyguard duties and teaches several other classes.  Time will tell if I sign up for a more advanced class.  Would like to but don't now how money will work out.

Because of the class size, the range time dragged on.  We had 24 in our class...and it took about 2 1/2 hrs to get every one through.

Let me tell you...you want Chip on your side in an altercation.  He won the Best Male Shot for the class.

The shop is located right by the house.

I believe they are running a special right now...the Conceal Carry class is $100.  (I noticed the sign out front the other day.)  Give them a call and check out the details.  Very nice folks there.

Besides the NRA Basic Pistol class, they offer...Personal Protection in the Home...Personal Protection Outside the Home.  Info on these classes are on his website.

I think the requirement is 8hrs of class room, 25 rounds from a revolver and 25 rounds from a semi auto fired under instruction. It was given by an NRA certified instructor, at his gun shop and range. I think the normal cost runs between $100.00 and 175.00 depending on where you take the class, I can tell you that it is a money maker. There was 23 students, over 100.00 bucks each, some had to rent their pistols others bought their ammo there. It was a good day for the owner instructor .It was mostly safety with some law. The instructor didn't want any one to fail ,he spent a loooong time on the range with three females in the class. Seems they couldn't hit the target. One small gal couldn't pull the slide back. She finally got the hang of it. The others that were having trouble on the range did better after using a laser. Seems they were anticipating the kick and pushing the gun forward and down as the pulled the trigger. I feel I had always handled my weapons safely, but I learned a little range etiquette. Now I can pay the county I live in for a permit.

My bride has/carrys a Taurus .38 (Model P85.)  She's an experienced pistol shooter having shot compitetion on the 'family team' for a number of years with me and the boys and could have gotten a 'high cap' semi-auto of some type, but the .38 'wheel' is a perfect gun for her and any woman. And, the "P" adds plenty of stopping thump, though a regular .38 is good enough (what she normally loads.) It's a good selection for your wife (IMO.)

I never understood the allure of "ink".  But, that's cool, because diversity is what makes the world go around.  If EVERYONE rode a Valk, we would not all be so much cooler than the rest of the world! 2funny 2funny

I have a Sig P229 in 9mm.  Way too big for CC.  I have a Taurus PT111 that I don't REALLY care for much.  Thinking about getting rid of it.  But I don't know what to replace it with.

Cool on Kit for joining the "army".
