Four wheels move the body, 2 wheels move the soul

Van, Texas

« on: January 14, 2011, 01:52:12 PM »

I just got my renewal in the mail and found out that insurance for my 2 bikes this year is $588.  I have liability and underinsured on my magna (98) and full on the Valk (99).  What are you guys paying and who do you have it with.  The company explained that the state mandatory liability limits increased this year which is what caused the increase.
Thanks

Hi Jim,

It sounds like you're doing pretty good from here.

I'm in Collin County and switched from Dairyland to Geico in September.  Dairyland's renewal quote went up considerably, so I shopped Progressive (with ZERO chance of buying from them...) and Geico.  By the time I got the coverages up and apples to apples, Dairyland was $1,220, Progressive was $574, and Geico was $598.  For only the Valkyrie...

Progressive - about $325 full coverage.  Stayed with them since they have always been so good in case of accidents. Just easy to work with and always fair. 2000 I/S.

GEICO has been my insurance company of choice for about 20 years. A couple of years ago they upped my full coverage for the Interstate to $384.00 from $314.00. I did some shopping and came upon "e-surance" on the Internet. The same coverage was $199.00. February, '10, I bought the 2K tourer, my full coverage for both bikes is now $350.00 for one year, expiring at the end of Sept. '11.

Unless you happen to get hit by one of their insureds and all you want is your reasonable medical expenses paid for.  Two years of dragging their feet trying not to pay until my time ran out resulting in a lawsuit and having to "share" with a POS personal injury lawyer who negotiated the payables down to make room for his cut.

Progressive is what I had on my cars and truck, they sucked!!! :tickedoff:I have Progressive on my bikes and could not be any happier. :angel:I pay $500 a year for full coverage on a 99 tour & a 2000 Shadow. When my 97 was totaled Progressive stepped up cooldude The adjuster came to my house and spent 4 hours taking pictures of the bike and getting prices for some of the after market parts I had installed. I was told by the other insurance company that I would only get $3000 for the bike and could buy it back for $2400 uglystupid2 Progressive gave me $8600 ( $100 ) more than I bought the bike for and let me buy it back for $1200 cooldude Go to the dealer and talk to there insurance people You may have better luck at a better price cooldude

Never been on the other side.  I have them for car, motorcycle and boat as again, they have taken good care of us.  Sorry to hear of your problems with them, Dave.

We are having issues with A-1 Affordable insurance - one of their clients hit my wife's van and they are lowballing the repairs by half of any estimate I can get.  I plan to get my son involved in this one - might as well get some of that 3 years of law school investment back!

I have found that it varies depending on time of year, your location (Dave's BAD record), etc.

I've had Foremost, Progressive, Geico and Dairyland. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme, reason or consistency on pricing.

Here's who I use at Dairyland as do several others in the club and she can price it out for you to see what their price is.  She's a rider.

Cost, high or low, has a lot to do with zip code for sure!

Please give Kathy a crack at your biz. She paid the event insurance for the DFW Valk club's Charity Run last summer - remember when it was so hot! And, to remember a moment in history, Kathy hosted the first ever DFW Valk club Christmas Party (sorry pics on another drive). She will even insure bikes that are not Valks! What a gal!!! ~Jeff

Happened to get my renewal quote today, so I just got a quote from these folks. About $300 higher than renewing my Dairyland. I'm going to check Geico and Progressive as well just for good measure.
