So my brother calls me back in Oct and says his wifes aunt has this street bike in her garage and wants to know if I knew anybody looking for a bike then he said "ITS A MONSTER" really big. I said Ive been thinking about riding more so I told him I was interested. So the story goes her husband bought it new on 8/20/03, then on 8/23/03 had the oil changed at 166 miles. Then about a year or 2 later he was diagnosed the diabetes then shortly after that had a stroke. With the stroke he could not ride it. He passed away in 2009 and the bike sat till Oct 2010. I had meet him several times at family events and always thought of him as a great guy. My brother was helping her get it running to finally sell, which he did by putting a new battery in it, installing a new oem gas tank petcock and taking the tank to a rad shop for cleaning. They recommended a red sealant in the tank to stop the rust which he had them install. Iv'e seen the red stuff before but not heard good or bad about it. So he got the bike running and I went over it see it. The size was intimidating but was ready to start riding again. So his aunt let me take it for a ride and made me an "Offer I Couldn't refuse. She says "paint some rooms in the house, and a couple of other things around the house and some cash and you can ride it home. So far I have NOT regretted it. The bike has been garaged from day one, when I rode it home it had 1351 miles on it, no its not a typo, only 1351 miles. It now has 2200 on it. I've done the basic service to it, engine oil and filter, final drive gear oil and replaced the coolant. The air cleaner was spotless. Next is the brake and clutch fluid. Tires are original but look brand new, no checking or crack and did not feel any flat spots when riding. Ive been reading lots of post from the form and have found lots of good info but its very overwhelming, so much info to read through it makes my head spin. I did buy and add the lift adapter I saw someone post here. I also bought a service manual. The plan is to have fun and use it when every possible, ride to work, vacation trips and  many day trips. As a kid I rode mini bikes to 125cc's. My street riding has been on a Yamaha Maxim but with several DRY years in between, recently my buddy let me ride his Shadow 1100 (i think), so this is without a doubt the BEST bike I have ever ridden. Hope to someday see some of you on the road. Any advice or input would be appreciated.

Hey Paul welcome to the club!. You will find all the help and answers you need here on this forum. Pretty much anything that could be asked about the Valk has already been asked so if you have a question or problem you can do a search on it and probably find the answer but don't hesistate to ask if you can't find the answer. Everyone here is great and eager to help out anyone who needs it. I bought my first Valk over 3 years ago and found this forum soon after. They have helped tremendously. Again welcome to the world of Valkyrie, the best all around cruiser ever made.

A word to the wise: Stay close to home till you get new tires. Even though they have lots of tread, they are old tires. I had a new original tire on a wheel in my garage. I loaned it to a friend who then rode to Nebraska from AZ. It bulged out and got him stuck in Colorado. Good luck on your purchase.

Sweet deal!  Replace those tires, grease the splines while the back is off, and hit the road running.
