I have always enjoyed Poker Runs and riding new routes and also the comaradre of few enthususiasts. But within the last few years there has been a lot of "investigation by police and other enforcementr agencies" that believe Poker Runs are some type of illegal gambling by "biker gangs".

We all know this is a fallacy, but there are simple ways to circumvent interaction with the law; simply promote the event as a "Pooker or Pocker Run". Most motorcyclists will know what it is, yet it will keep the enforcement agentcies from sticking their noses out of our fun........SIMPLE.....EFECTIVE.....and different.

Have fun riding next season.

with most of the money going to the charity, it should not be a big concern, at least to me.

We’ve run into this in Missouri quite a while back.  The solution was to call them “Marble Runs” or my favorite, “Panty Runs”.  It seemed the problem was by using playing cards to play poker and award prizes, it was similar to casino play.  In a marble run, you pick a marble out of a bag and mark the different colors on a card.  At the end of the run, values are assigned to the colors, and prizes awarded for the highest ones.  A panty run is the same, except you pick different panties out of a bag from tiny T-backs to gigantic “Granny panties”.   Grin

The PD's are just enforcing what the Gaming Commission is considering Gambling and they want their percentage just like they get from the Casino's.

Some Attorney General got a cob up his backside and decided it was gambling and time for the Gaming Commission to collect.

It has nothing to do with biker gangs.
