What would be a good adhesive to use on the back of the chrome fender extenders that is not permanent (or at least removable if need be in the future)? Thanks,   John

Double sided adhesive tape, sometimes referred to as "Tiger Tape".

The stuff that is used to apply things like the emblem on the gas tank, trim pieces on cars and bikes.

You get the idea!

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Depends what the fender thing is worth to you. I would not put a expensive pc of chrome on with double sided tape. It takes alot of road abuse, rain/water, debris, etc. I use that tape on my air filter/intakes and they fall off every other year. I check them for looseness every spring and replace as needed. I got my mud flap on with 3 ss allen head screws. Works good. I think I have a small cancer spot on the bottom but the flap has been on for 10 yrs.

All those chrome pivot covers people use are held on with double stick aren't they?

All the double stick I've ever tried to use was awful, I figured there must be some good kind if
it held on all those pivot covers on Valkyries...

It's all about the underlying preparation!

The best double faced tape is made by 3M and it is what is used on truck window rain shields. Once those things are installed they do not fall off. Go to an auto body supply store. I don't know what you may encounter if you need to remove it. This tape is not a foam tape that you can buy at Home Depot, this is a rubber product.
As stated before good prep is essential. Clean surface with alcohol.

I've installed hood scoops, bug deflectors and sun visors on pickups with 3m tape and never lost one, Have destroyed a couple of deflectors trying to remove them. Good to go if installed correctly.
