I was wondering if anyone has changed over to the "Ultimate Seat" that's available as aftermarket for the Valks. I was looking at the lowrider I think it's called, but they don't come cheap and I do recall sometime ago hearing something negative about replacement seats and not sure if in fact it was the "Ultimate" make or not. Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers

I have (had) a stock 99' IS seat on my bike. I find it uncomfortable after an hour, not bad, but uncomfortable.

Was at a group ride with others, someone had an Ultimate seat, so I asked to sit on it, and I felt it would be a lot better than stock. Didn't get a chance to ride a distance with it, but it is a better shape like my Corbin for my Shadow ACE T, it holds your seat in the bowl of the seat.

I bought an old style used Corbin IS seat, hated it! Maybe the new ones have a different design, look like they do, so maybe check out others in your area first.

There is one-metric-ass-ton of Valk owners on this forum that have the Ultimate seat.  Des (Ultimate's owner) has a great reputation in this community.  The number of people that love their Ultimate vs. the number of people that don't like them is vastly in favor of them.

I've only had the priviledge of riding on one for a short ride (thanks again Rick!).  It was drastically more comfortable than the stock seat.  The ride home was not nearly as enjoyable since I switched back to my stock seat.

You'll have more reading to do than you can imagine if you type "Ultimate seat" into the search box at the top right of the screen.  Make sure you are not in a single post/thread or it will only search in that post/thread.

Ultimate, Russell, Mustang, and Corbin (seems like I'm forgetting one or two more)  are the big players for seats for the Valk.  Out of those, it seems like people are most passionate about the Ultimate or the Russell.

Whatever seat you are considering, chances are there is a member close by that will let you check it out.  Just ask around.

Here's a picture of my 99 interstate with a Ultimate King Big Boy on the way to INZANE X. The backrest is a Utopia.. I also have a 98 tourer with the same type seat on it . There is nothing negative about these seats in my opinion.

i seen you mentioned the lowrider from ultimate

if you are anywhere near the 200lb mark i would suggest you go with the bigboy unless you really need the extra 1" lower height that the lowrider provides, because that extra padding helps

I've had an Ultimate LowRider (with their backrest) on my Interstate almost since I got it six years ago, and I have no compaints at all, except on maybe the rides that are getting over 10-12 hours long, but that's probably true on any seat. When I first got the bike it had a Corbin, and I absolutely hated it. I weigh in around 215, which is the suggested crossover from the LowRider to the next level (BigBoy?), but because I have only a 28" inseam, I need the LowRider's lower seating position to feel a little more comfortable on stops. On the really long rides I sometimes throw an AirHawk or sheepskin over the seat for a different feel, but that happens very rarely. Hope it helps.

I have the lowrider on my IS. Just got the two backrest with pearl studs .Looks and feels great.I had the dragon embroidered on the rear backrest in grey with red eyes. Ultimate is great looking and very comfy . If you are looking for LOOOOONG distance seat, I would urge you to look into the Russel. Mustang and Corbin are nice looking but I only know one guy who liked the Corbin for long rides and he switched to an Ultimate...ultimately. From what I hear, Russel may be better for guys who like to do long long days. Surely not as perty as an Ultimate . I also hate the fact that the Ultimate is not water resistant. Need to get covers for another $45, but that may be the case with Russel as well, not sure
