There's another on-going thread here with a pretty big discussion going on about Champion and other saddlebag guards and maybe even modifying a HD guard to make do.

Since the Champion bag guards are no longer being made, and with OEM Valk parts getting rare, the options for saddlebag guards regardless of the name brand of bag, seems to be extremetly limited.

I was wondering if anyone has every tried to mount the OEM saddelbag guards (or the knock-offs from ebay) while using other saddlebags.....specifically the Tsukayu Strongs.

Would the sweep of the Tsukayu vs OEM bags be too severe and wind up looking rather wierd, and would this work at all?

Pics would be nice if you've done this.

I have a Tourer with the aftermarket guard rails. My standard I mounted Mustang bags (which I believe are made by Tsukayu) anyway I took one of my tourer bags off and tried to sit the Mustang bag in it's place. It wouldn't fit. The Mustang bag has more angle than the stock bags. I haven't tried it with the knock off OEM rails or the OEM rails. But with the M/C rails it will not fit. Here's a picture of the mustang bags and the rails on my tourer.

Thanks for the reply.  Were the Mustangs (and yeah, I'm pretty sure that Tsukayu makes them too) too long to fit or too wide.....or both?

Are the MC guard rails dimensionally different from the OEM's, or are they about the same?  I know they're different at the rear......more squared than the OEM's I think.

btw......Nice pair of Valks.  Those Mustangs are exactly what I'm looking at buying.

They were a little too long and also a little wider. Love the mustang bags. I have my mounted with easy brackets. I have thought about getting some OEM bag mounts and see if they will sit on them ok. I also have been following the thread 2 post down about the 1500 saddlebag guards. Thinking about looking into that route also.
