Got a letter from J&P Cycles telling me that I can exchange my Shinko 757 front tire I bought back in Nov. for a Metz ME880 straight up. They will pay for installation if it was installed as well.
I haven't installed it yet & the customer service rep told me on the phone that if I take it to the J&P store in Daytona they will swap it out on the spot. WOW. I wonder what problem they found wrong with the Shinko?? HMMM.

Did a little googling, and it looks like they've been having delamination problems...

Interesting.

The Shinko 230 is also sized and rated for our bikes.

Does anyone have experience with that tire?

They don't seem to be affected by the recall.

I'm not sure if they've had any other problems with their MC tires, but I had a delamination problem on my Shinko BICYCLE tires. That's enough for me not to try them on the Valk.

Kudos to J&P for contacting you and offering the swap.

Shocked  I got a set of Shinko 757s on the shelf (ready spares for either bike that I got last year) and sent an email to DLP asking them to let me know what their intentions are.  Fortunately they have never been mounted.  Let's hope DLP comes thru for me like J&P did for you.

Appears that I was the only one that got these tires from DLP, which they no longer carry.  DLP contacted their distributor and informed me that I should take these to a local Western Power Sports dealer for exchange to the Metz ME 880's.  Unfortunately one of the 3 local dealers closed and I contacted the other one and passed on the info to them.... and the contact name/number at Western Power Sports to confirm recall/replacement etc.  I am awaiting a call back from the local dealer.

Thanks for bringing this information to light and I hope that others who have these tires see this as well.

Thanks   cooldude

UPDATE!
Took the Shinko tire back to JP Cycles in Daytona today along with a copy of the recall letter & receipt. JP Daytona was out of stock with the ME880 Metz but one is on the way from the Iowa store. Should be at my door in a week. No charge to me & they were very nice about it, apologizing for the recall & for not having the Metzler in stock.
Even though they were out of stock on the replacement tire, we had a nice 150 mile ride, got to meet 2 other Valkers from the area, & had a great lunch at the nearby River Grille on the Tomoka River.  cooldude cooldude
