You guys have it made.
After over 40 years of sharing the cooking and 9 years of doing my own cooking, mostly meat and potatoes, I'm d*** tired of it.

Just so there are no misunderstandings, I thought I would let you know early on. The menu for this evening's meal is peanut butter and jelly.
Oh, but I might give you a piece of that chocolate cake for dessert.
Damnnn I'm going to have to visit the board more often --- Not sure what you did "Mr. Willow" but you obviously are in deep when your sweet wife isn't cooking you dinner!! I'll have to follow this story a little closer ---- I can always use the advice when my Mr. Kendall is screwing up

There's no real fight. If you (or she) will carefully read my post regarding the roast you'll see it's obvious that I was complimentary concerning Mama's skills and the quality of the meal. What I did express was disappointment stemming from unfulfilled expectation and the possibility of some misrepresentation.
Truly, I was taking care of myself quite well when I lived alone and can still do so. While I'm very appreciative of all that is done for me and though I love my wife very much, it's my viewpoint as a mature man that a woman, while an extremely pleasant luxury, is not a necessity in my life.
I chose the love of my life because I wanted her, not because I couldn't live without her.
Des, don't follow someone else's example. I suspect Kendall is just about as helpless as I am.

Trust me I would have a lot less work --- if I was without

I believe she said roast, not pot roast. I agree pot roast is obviously beef... roast could be either. Poor Willow just let his mind go into the land of wishful thinking.

I do probably 80% of the cooking at my house. It's funny how on her day off we often end up eating pizza, yet I cook every night of the week as well as weekends.
My Ol'Lady makes more dough than I do though. (pun intended)
Plus frankly, I like my cooking better.

So, are you saying that a man needs a woman, like a goldfish needs a bicycle? Certainly not! You must have missed the term "extremely pleasant luxury". I would also point out I qualified my viewpoint as that of a mature man, that is to say that my children are grown and gone.
A good relationship between and man and woman is somewhat complex. I adore my wife and would in a heartbeat lay down my life for her, but it would never occur to her to demand it of me. Ofttimes when a choice is to be made in which one selection would be beneficial to me while the other would be more advantageous to her, I willingly sacrifice my preference in favor of her need. It would never occur to her to demand it of me. I buy flowers for my wife, but I've also been known to forget her birthday. We have a very good relationship. We ride together. Sometimes she rides beside me; sometimes before; and sometimes behind. I choose.
For anyone who wants to know, I ate very well last evening.
I am an old fashioned kind of man and wouldn't have it any other way.
Lori and I had this exchange just a day or two ago.
"Do you think I'm the best thing that ever happened to you?"
"Why, yes, I do."
"Why don't you tell me more often?"
"You don't tell me that very often."
"You're right. I should say it more. Sweetheart, I am the best thing that ever happened to you."
I smiled and she made that special face of which I've never quite figured out the meaning.
