I was wondering what is compact and has a nice sound. Not extremely loud. Maybe an electric two or three note...
Any ideas? Thanks...

I think a loud horn is good-especially on a mototcycle that all too often isn't seen well. For me, 4 horns under the swing arm works well. Stock button powers a relay for the horns. Has gotten the correct attention more than once. If you go too quiet, you might as well scream-oh, you'll already be doing that.

HD Sportster horn kit works. $80. Mounts right up, well with minor adjustment. Extend the wires, add a 3" angle brace to the oem mount, bolt the horn on. Looks good and sounds like a horn, not the whimpy oem sound. Its the only item that vibrates at idle on my bike. Had it since 01. Hasnt worked right in 5 years or so. Sounds like a goose. I rewound it last year and did help but I still need a new one. I dont honk much.

Can't recommend a horn with tunes, but will also recommend one that is louder.
Two things allowed my MC accident to happen. Not seen, will now ONLY ride with a head light modulator. Not heard, will ALWAYS add a loader horn.
I also bought a loud Bad (Big) Boy from PrincessAuto (in Canada), just like the Stebel. I also bought a High tone Highway horn (car) to try out. I'm also looking for a set of the GW GL1800 horns, as these are what we need for everyday use, car horns on a MC. I'll run a relay off the regualr horn, because of the delay of powering up the air compressor, the regular horn can still be used for communication.
ps: just bought the GL1800 horn set off ebay. Nice timely article, just looked again and found them with 53 min left, and no bids.

I miss the old "non-relay" car/truck/MC horns. With no relay it's possible to quickly tap the button for a friendly hello, bye, etc... When there's a relay involved there's less control.
In emergency situations I always seem so busy taking evasive actions that there's no time to blow a horn.

Don't get water in them - been there, done that. Not a big loss if you do, don't cost much. But it's a pain to have to replace them. Of course if I'm gonna respond to a thread about horns, I gotta put my pic up. I told the editors at Motorcycle Cruiser about it, and they put this pic in their magazine, Feb '03. Here's a reprint of the page:

Car horns mounted under the swing arm, relay-ed of course. Loud familiar sound, cheap & cleans up the looks of the Valkyrie. BTW... do face the openings AWAY from rear tire splash. Don't ask me how I know!

Like gordonv in bc, I got a loud one from Princess auto, it is plenty loud. Put it on the right side so I could put it two feet from the dumbass cager that just tried to wipe me out.
That moron is not affected by the horn. I know they hear it, but they seem to care less. If you're gettin it for idiot control, might wanna find another way.
I'm looking for that way.

My HD bud has a ball pean hammer mounted to his saddle bags for this reason. Works great on car mirrors as they push into your lane. Seen him use it a time or 2. Nobody will remember getting honked at. Can you remember the last time you were honked at? I cant. What they will remember is a size 11 boot print on their car or 2 tattooed bikers looking in their drivers window giving them the middle finger. I would remember that.
