Not really, in the sense of a bolt-on. Take your alternator cover off and look at it. It is secured in an unusual and trick way. It snaps on a rubber grommet on one side and a bolt holds it at the bottom. I made a few of these when my alt cover crazed. This one was chromed at a local shop. I have just a couple left, unfinished. They can be painted, chromed, whatever. All steel, no plastic.

That Harley coil cover is quite a bit smaller than the Honda alternator cover.

Even if you could get it to fit.......(I mean it looks good and everything) how much would that HD part slow your Valkyrie down?

odds are, using it would cause 4 cylinders to quit!

I'm confused! I know the chrome bubbling up on those was an issue but why not just buy another OEM part? They're not THAT expensive.

I guess we just dream of replacing those three plastic covers with "real" covers... no vendor (that I know of) ever made a "real" cover for the alternator... So Gary did it himself... -Mike

It snaps on a rubber grommet on one side and a bolt holds it at the bottom. Yup .... I realize it's not a direct bolt-on and am familiar with how it attaches to the bike. I was just thinking of something cheap to start with (< $10 on flea bay) and modify it to attach to the bike. I'm confused! I know the chrome bubbling up on those was an issue but why not just buy another OEM part? They're not THAT expensive. Just thinking outside the box to come up with something that will last longer. A new one is $36 and some change @ HDL. I was thinking of bringing mine into work and have a machinist mill some slots in it to help dissipate the heat ?? Also, how hard is it to remove the chrome for painting ?? Anyway, do appreciate the feedback Sodbuster

Find a way to strip the chrome from the bad one & paint it. I did that on the '99. I didn't have to strip it as it already was when I got the bike. Maybe a careful glass bead job would do it? Painted it with semi-gloss black & bolted it back on. I can be a cheapskate sometimes!

I was thinking the same thing. Reverse electrolisis, an acid bath and a battery (charger) and see if we can strip the chrome from it.
Then either spray chrome or just color match to the rest of the bike.

The cover is plastic!
The reason the chrome plating wrinkles and buckles is the base material (plastic) is shrinking.
The chrome is a pretty thick layer and will peel off quite easily.
Screw it! I just leave it alone and accept it.

No disrespect to Gary's solution but I was looking for something that would be more rounded looking. My cover doesn't looking bad at all right now but just thinking ahead.

After I put Gary's on I strip my old one and painted it black. It came out good and was not very difficult. I am hanging on to it just in case.....
