So far theres about 8 to 10" up where I'm at just north of KC.  Temp is 12 degrees. Wind blowing like crazy. I'm 31 miles from work, took me 1-hr with little to know traffic on the road. No plows out in the country yet. I have a drift that looks to be just over 2 feet at my back door.

All in all not as bad as those folks that live way up north!

Snow and high winds right now.  We are supposed to get a lot more all night and til tomorrow
afternoon, up to 24 inches when its all said and done.  Could be one of the worst storms in
Illinois history.

We are hanging in there.

I'm between Chicago & Milwaukee so according the news over-reactors we're all already dead but I'm not feelin' it  Grin hard to tell how much snow there is because it's all going sideways. 40+mph winds but I've found the secret is to keep the windows & doors closed. Seriously, I'm just going to stay holed up until it passes. Got milk & cereal, bourbon & pizza, bottled water & coffee beans, firewood, a 12v portable booster pac & a 110v inverter so hopefully I'll be comfy for a while.

My plan was to blow snow this morning, but I don't know how I'm going to get out of the house.

My bar b-q grill has no snow on it but there are 4' drifts everywhere else.

Mark is out snowblowing the driveway.  So far, not as bad as thought.  Appears to be about 8 inches. Wind has died down . Forecasters are saying 1-2 inches possible here with some freezing rain. Blizzard condition has been changed to snow advisory. One good thing. The freezing rain crust on the snow will hold down the drifting with the high winds expected today.

All in all, not as bad as predicted here in NE Indiana..............so far.

Not home yet but alot of ice. Kit says 4' drifts at home. Plows took out my mailbox AGAIN!  tickedoff Even put up a hunk of plywood and staked it to the ground. SOB'es!  Angry Took a run last night and it was horrible on the interstate. White out for miles with high winds. Soon as relief gets here I'll check things out at home.

Opened the garage door by the Valk and saw about 15 inches of snow up against it... out a little farther a 3 foot drift.... then down near the end of the driveway, about a 4 foot drift all the way out to the driveway.  Wind swirling around ...25 MPH winds...my little 15 year old single stage snow blower is on it's last legs.  I was pushing it into drifts taller than the spout where the snow blows out!! Broke one part, fixed it, threw the belt of twice... say a prayer that it lasts.

Finally got a channel plowed out - my wife HAD to go to work..

We're hanging in there... as soon as the wind dies down I might be able to catch up..

Probably got 15 inches over the past 24 hours.... but they're saying  -2° tonight... BRRR!

So much for Brookfield, Wisconsin - just west of Milwaukee.

Ive seen worse as a kid living in Chicago in 1967.

But this is the first time in 20 years living here that I got my plow truck stuck in a snow bank. I'm waiting for my son to head over right now to help pull me out. I was whittling away at a 6 foot drift when I got sucked in and got hung up on the plow frame.

I live in the country surrounded by corn fields so there is nothing to stop the wind, needless to say, the snow stops where it wants to, not where it is convenient.

There are two cars in that garage that will have to get dug out today or we will not be going to work for a while.

Now you guys understand whey I posted the post a few days ago stating that WINTER SUCKS!

Wind has died down a little and snow has tapered off. Had to see if I could get out and clean the Fire Dept drive off just in case, I guess there is no where to go, all the roads in Stark county are closed, No businesses open in any surrounding towns. Day off to clean Bike !!

Jim,

I hope Daryl doesn't want to use his trailer any time soon!

For me (just like your garage) the doors face south.. when the wind is from the north east like it is today, it swirls around.  Snow blows in from all directions minutes after you clear it out...

I hate winter too...

This was just a small part of my drive back from Enid OK.  Thank God I made it back to Fort Worth.  I survived my trial by fire.

I live in Owasso Oklahoma, The winter storm that the weather men were talking about since last week hit here on Tuesday. THe weathermen said we were suppose to get between 12" and 20" of snow. When I was hearing this I was shaking my head because the weather men here can tell you what the weather is like in N.Dakota. Very seldom can they tell you how much rain we are going to get here and when it is going to hit uglystupid2 I will say they are really good when tornado season hits and I will give them a 95 % rating on tornado's warnings cooldude After the BLIZZARD of Feb 1 2011 passed us we ended up with 21" of snow Shocked That is the most snow Oklahoma has ever recived since they have been keeping records. Okies do not know how or what to do with snow like this. We do not own snow blowers and our snow shovels are the cheapest we can buy because at the most we might get 8" a year and that is not all at once. There are 6' snow drifts all around my house and all through the neighborhood.IT took me and my Son 4 hours to dig out our 2 cars and 1 truck today.
Our shop has closed down until Monday and there is a 30% chance of more snow then uglystupid2 I am really hating on Oldman Winter this year Angry Angry

I don't even like East Tennessee winters, no wonder you guys get a little KOOKY at times.

More laid back here and would get cabin fever and go on a Bender if living there.

AL,

Up here we don't go on benders in the winter, we go off benders about the middle of April when the salt gets washed off the roads.
