I want a K&N filter and find the Valk filter to be very expensive compared to the GW 1500. And thank ya'll that have been trying to find a lower price for me.

I always thought the GW 1500 was the exact same engine as the Valk but without the tupperware.
The filter for th Valk is HA-1596 and the GW is HA-8088. Is there anyway to cross reference? I know a lot of you have both. Are they the SAME??

Thanks alot!

Nope, not the same filters. They use the same basic engine, that's about where it all ends. Totally different frame so the method and design on how to get the air into the engine is different. Besides, the GW has two carbs, the Valk has six. Don't waste anymore time researching how to make one fit the other....won't even come close.

Thanks John, I'm learning alot! What you said makes perfect sense but I never new a GW just had 2 carbs being a 6 cylinder and awhile back I went a site, bikez.com I think and seen the cubes and HP was the same. So I just assumed 6 carbs.  Wink

If you go K&N, don't use the pre-filter.  Several members here have had issues after going K&N, only to discover that removing the pre-filter solved their issues.

xguy......the pre-filter he is talking about is a piece of foam that comes with the k&n... it is in a plastic bag.... just put the k&n into the airbox, and throw the sponge filter in the box. cooldude

Goose, you mean just throw the foam in the garbage? This pre filter stuff is all new to me. When I ordered one for my VTX, it just came pre soaked in oil and sealed in plastic- no pre filter.

Thanks man cooldude

Sorry.  I went to lunch after posting about the pre-filter.

But yeah...what Goose said.
