I want a heel/toe shifter and floorboards. I know opinions will vary, but which one is better- the Rattlebar or the MC? I want one to be easy and trouble free and dependable.

Thanks for any insight.  Smiley

Ditto to Bassman.  That is what I have and really like the combination.  Of course, when I installed them I had to learn to shift all over again.

I had the MC Enterprises heel/toe floorboards and I thought it was a piece of junk. Mine must have been made at 4:00pm on Fri. Everything was off, the fixed heel lever stuck out to far and when I tried to push my kickstand out my pants hooked on the heel lever and almost dumped the bike three times.  I went to the RattleBars/Cobra Floorboard Combo and never had a issue. It was worth the few extra dollars. You buy cheap, you get cheap and you pay twice. The MC Ent. can't compare to the Cobra quality.

Many thanks to both of you. Doc that's funny because now I'm having to learn all over again!  2funny I am so used to the heel/toe and floorboards and big brake pedal. The big brake pedal I can live without. I't been MANY years since I've had to use my toe upwards and have to always be concious not to kick my heel down! Lol  So it's the opposite with me.

Anyway while I'm thinking about it, when I bought mine it had the basic Cobra passenger floorboards(not swept) and my wife's little feet is always bumping my heel with the driver's stock pegs. My question is will it make it worse if I added my Cobra floorboards?

Thanks again

I've got the Cobra set.  My first time with a heel-toe setup and after adjusting the shifter itself one notch down so my toe would fit between the valve cover and the shifter I have been very happy with it..biggest problem I've had is leaving black smudges on my cobra pipes from my heels..

No KW, I have been riding with just a shifter for so long that when I got on a buddies Harley with heel and toe shifter it was actually irritating to use, I guess if I would have one and ride with it I might get used to it.

I thought I wanted one because I always here how great they are, but when I rode a bike with one this past summer, I just couldn’t get the hang of it. I’m just too darn uncoordinated or stupid or something. . . .

That makes two of us.  I rented an HD Electra that had it.  Even after 1400 miles, I was still uncomfortable using it.

Like a lot of accessories for our beloved fat ladies, the Kury Heel Toe Shifter has been discontinued.  I have the Rattlebars shifter on Sandman, my 97 Tourer, and the Kury on my 2K I/S.  Keep an eye on ebay and the VRCC Classifieds.  A Rattlebars shifter pops up from time to time.  I've only seen one Kury on ebay and I was lucky enough to win it.

I got mine from a member here on the board several years ago.  It's for a Valk.  I've seen several on ebay within the last year. They're scarce as hen's teeth. Grab one if you get the chance.  Much smoother action than the others IMHO.

Heel Toe not for me, Took the Rear Shifter off my Harley, too long legged and size 13 shoes.

Harley makes a little chorome cover for the exposed shaft.

On the Valk forget it.

AL

PS I have heard some people say the Valk shifts better with the right heel toe though.

Nice Heel Open Toe

I have the rattebars and there relocate kit, with a set of Harley floor boards. 80,000 miles and really enjoy them. The Harley heal toe, I have to raise my foot but still like it. My 83' FLHS has the forward controls and I have always used by heal to up shift. I've never liked useing my toe on any bike.

I'll join you KW.  Bought a kickshifter way back....maybe 2001 because everyone said it was the cat's ass. Cheesy  Mounted it and before torquing the bolt that would crush the bushing, thought I'd better first give it a trial run, so to speak.  All I did was straddled the bike and went to put my left foot on the peg.  Heal hit the shifter before I could get my foot on the peg where I like it.  Leaned it back onto the kickstand and removed it. Angry  It is still in the box it was shipped in.

I have the rattlebar h/t shifter and I would have to say the Kury H/T shifter very smooth when shifting.  But... I believe that once you install floorboards you sacrifice your ability to lean the bike in corners without scraping the pegs.  Some may give their opinion but I feel like the boards stick out a lot further and compromise your degree of lean to the bike and if you include the relocation peg kit (i do not have) you reduce your clearance even more.

I'm curious to know what others seem to think about this.  This could make or break you for considering the H/T shifter and boards...

For what it's worth...

found the Kury heel toe shifter.. Sorry can't seem to find one for sale right now but this may help you see the difference.   Here is a link it is the third picture down. http://www.accessoryinternational.com/replacementpegsandboards.htm  Looks like the part # is 4030.

Maybe if enough call Kury they may consider making another batch.  Just a thought.
