Radio On A Tourer Any Help

Hi Fellas was wondering if anyone had any pics of a radio system for a tourer. I seen on guy that mounted a radio in his side bags but didn't interest me unless thats the last resort. I don't want to do the ipad thing either. Would like a FM radio that will play cd's if possible. The most important thing i need is a really good set of speakers that wont look cobbled up. Ive seen some handle bar speakers but just don't know whats gonna have the best sound quality. I have glass pack exhaust on my bike and im not looking to go cheap, rather quality. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I haven't gotten to the point yet to do my project, but I'm adding the IS trunk to my ACE Tourer (just like the Valk Tourer) and am going to use the speaker pods for mounting new speakers for the sound system I'm going to install.
For me, I want AM radio for traffic reports, after that an accessory for MP3 is fine. I saw a small portable radio at Radio Shack, about the size of a cell phone, like an iPod, that I figure I could mount on the handle bars to control the system.
I'll be going to a Sound Shop and see if they might have a car/marine stereo that has a remote control, then mount the system in the trunk.

I put these on my GL1100;
http://www.motorcycletunes.com/products.asp?cat=221
4" Harley chromed driving light housings with high quality speakers, marine grade water resistance. They also sell full kits with amplifyer or radio/CD player, installs in the trunk or saddlebag. I got the set with amp, installed it under the tank and used a cheap am/fm radio velcro'd to the bars, and an Ipod in the dash for longer trips. I had a 200watt amp, they also have a 500watt amp for multi-speaker setups. They trew in a dongle for standard earphone/buds as well.

I have been using xm skyfi3 for years and works great you can put over 200 songs on a 2gb mini sd card. It has a internal battery or I have it hard wired for 12 volt and a mini amp sits on top of battery box. Just add speakers and good to go. You can get these off evil bay for around 30 dollars or sometimes less nice big display and large buttons and removable from cradle. More info or pictures shoot me a e-mail at

'97 Tourer. I haven't found anything that I like yet and I have tried a number of items. I haven't found a acceptable manner to mount the speakers so that I can still see the gages.

The J & M handlebar speakers work very well. I used the un-powered ones
I used a Sony AM/FM cassette unit because I could get a Marine wired remote control, and the CD whould skip WAY too much.
It's been held in there with Velcro all these years

My Valk has the Clarion CB. I took off the CB Antenna I never use a CB. Plugged a MP3 player into the system and control the volume with the CB control buttons.I've been using helmet earphones but just ordered a set of handlebar speakers. This is on a 98 Tourer.
