Motorcycle Escort Killed in Funeral Procession

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. - A man was killed Tuesday afternoon when he was hit by a car while acting as a motorcycle escort for a funeral procession.

The accident occurred around 2:15pm on Poplar Avenue near Byhalia Road in Collierville. According to reports from the scene, the procession was travelling west on Poplar when a car hit the 67-year old man, throwing him several feet. He was transported to Germantown Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers have not released the identity of the victim or the female driving the car that hit him.
