Cudos to Big Easy for install directions

I have not done this upgrade, but many have gone to Crutchfield for the parts;

I got the POlks from Crutchfield and did the speaker mod that was on here to do it... It was the one that you used the old speakers to mount the new and slight mod to the rear mounts.... Took a couple of hours and did make a difference with the stock system. If you use an Ipod or MP3, you will see much more improvement.

Put a set on last winter (front & rear). They have been through a decent amount of rain and work great.

Good sound and no problems with the install. If you need the rear speaker wiring harness, Electrical Connection sells it. The only thing with his (at least the one I got) is that the wires are encased in gray sheathing so an external (factory) run of the speaker wires to the rear will show in the trunk area. I ran mine inside the trunk from underneath, so you can't see them.

Bought my speakers on eBay.

Yep,

 I bought 4 of the same... Best tool for the job is a Dremel with a cutting wheel.... no one is gong to want the old speakers so sacrificing them for the front mounts is a no brainer....

Hi I would forget the factory speakers and do an up-grade .

I installed front and back with Polk Audio DB501. A night and day difference over stock. Well worth the money. Here are install instructions. Took me about 2 hours. http://forums.delphiforums.com/valkyrie/messages?msg=12890.1

What size speakers are you guys using for the front??  From what I’ve seen, a 5 ¼ inch should fit right??  As for using only marine grade speakers, this is what I did; I got some silk fabric from the fabric store, sprayed it with some silicone sealant and covered the speaker with it.  This will cause the water to flow off the speaker and not get into it.  This does not affect the sound one bit.  I’m planning to do the same thing for the front speakers.  I’ll be putting in some Alpine 5 ¼ inch coaxial speakers for the front and don’t know if they’ll fit easily.  That’s the good thing about having a long long cold snowy winter, you’ve got plenty of time to upgrade stuff!!
