I’ve got an amp that I’m installing and it has a remote on power terminal.  I could wire it up to a switched terminal so that it comes on when the cycles on, but if I’m not listening to the stereo why would I want the amp on?  So, what I want to know is if anyone knows if there is a remote on power on output from the radio?

Hey Alph,

I would say that there is a power on signal in the CD plug.  I do not know or have the pin-out of that connector...but it is someplace to look.

Here is how I mounted mine.  Of course this picture was taken before I wired it up.  Got to remember to take a picture next time the fairing is off.

OK, now to answer your question of "what I want to know is if anyone knows if there is a remote on power on output from the radio?"

My amp's remote can be triggered by one of the speaker wires.  When it senses power, it will turn the amp on.

Edit!   I have to amend what I said earlier.  The more I thought about it, I do trigger my amp with a speaker wire.  I was getting the Pop when the amp was on and then...turned on the radio.

hey steve, have you ever worried about water??  i ride rain or shine, and i've noticed that the front lip of the head lamp were it meets the chrome it's open.

from what i've read, soundgate makes a line input converter that has a remote power on option.  of course, i didn't buy THAT one!!

Alph,
No water has gotten to it yet, just a little dust.  Been in there almost 5 years now.  I lubed the terminals with dielectric grease.  Bought the amp from Electrical Connections and they sell them exclusively for M/C's.   Wink
