Chappell Hill has posted the date of April 9-10 for the Bluebonnet festival.  To avoid the mayhem  uglystupid2 that weekend, we will go on the weekend of the 16th.  This will put us 2 weeks after the GOTF at FB'b and Hotglue's on the 1-3 of April, so we'll have sufficient time to recuperate from the BBQ gluttony and prepare for the Chicken Fried Bacon extravaganza  Cheesy.     Oh, and don't forget the monstrous steaks !  Shocked   This is an "open" invitation  coolsmiley . Any and all are welcome to come  angel  .  Pics are encouraged   Wink    For those too distant to meet up in the morning, we should be at Sodolak's around 11am until ??  .  Hopefully this year the Fog God's will smile on us, and leave us alone.    Also when/if you decide to go, post that as well so we can keep a count of riders.  SugarPlum (Connie) and I are looking forward to doing this a third year now.  Hope to hear from ya'll soon.  GJ

I remember that fog!!  Wizard and I wisely decided to spend the night nearer to our meeting spot, or we wouldn't have been able to get there.    Almost missed the signs to exit anyway.

Hopefully, we'll be there this year as well.  And will probably take the precaution of getting a room near the meeting again.

hey gear jammer,
where do the houston area group meetup for this ride?

We meet at the gas station (Exxon) next to the McD's on NE corner of Hwy 290 and FM1488 on the east side of Hempstead.  Meet time will probably be at 8am like previous years.
So far nobody has expressed any date preference.  Hope to meet ya there. cooldude

Well John, so far the vote tally ( all  two of them) is for the 16th.  I think we'll have a firm date by mid March, that way folks will have a month or more to make whatever plans necessary.

If it's the 16th, I may duck out of Parent's Weekend at TAMU to have lunch with you fine people.  Won't know until I see my son's schedule.  The spring Aggie football game is at 1:00PM that day if anyone is interested - no cost to get in for that.

Just received a "tentative" from F-stop (Charlie) if it happens on the 23rd.  His son has a baseball game on the 16th.  So when it comes time to make our final decision, your feedback will be welcome.

After FB's post yesterday regarding Easter, I got to thinking.  Yeah, I know  crazy2   With the 24th being Easter, that makes the 22nd a work holiday for some folks.  I'm guessing there may be some who will plan on a 3 day weekend and take off out of town.  So to avoid any conflict, I think we should plan on the 16th of April for the Bluebonnets 'n Bacon ride.  That date had the most votes until now anyway.  I know this will eliminate f-stop (Charlie) from being able to attend, but in his honor I'm sure someone will take plenty of pics of the ride and food for his benefit  Roll Eyes   So if you're planning to go, get on the list.  cooldude

Saturday, April 16th @ the NE corner of intersection of Hwy 290 @ FM1488 at 0800hrs.   There's a Denny's/Exxon/McDonalds on this corner.  You'll find us in the Exxon lot on the McD's side (East side).  We fuel at the Exxon before KSU.  We leave out (assuming the Fog God's cooperate this year  Undecided ) around 0830-0845.  Lunch is at Sodolak's Country Inn in Snook, Texas.  cooldude  We try to arrive around 1100 to beat the lunch crowd. This is where some of the out of town folks that did not ride with us, will meet up for lunch.  We'll leave whenever we finish eating.  For some, that takes longer than others.  Roll Eyes  We will end up at the Shell at the corner of Hwy290 @FM1155 in Chappell Hill.  We will leave out for home from here, so when is up to you.

We plan to do as we did last year, and spend Friday night at a nearby motel.  Sure glad we did, too, because that Saturday morning was so foggy we could barely see the road.  I think we were 10 miles from the meet up spot, and that was enough.
