I've noticed a high percentage of the guys are as secretive about their age as the ladies are and I've often wondered why. Personally, I don't care if someone knows my age....I want people to know why I look like this. As the old saying goes; "I've traveled a lot of roads in my lifetime and they haven't all been paved." Here's hoping I have a bunch more roads traveled before I have to park the Lady for the last time. Man oh Man....hate to even think of that. Not really a big deal, just some musings on a dreary Monday afternoon.

John I hope that we can get together for another Scotch. I also hope that i'll be able to ride the Vstrom at Inzane. If everything goes well, I'll trailer the 'Strom to Inzane. Even a small amount of riding would satisfy my goal. I do know that most Valk riders don't care what you ride or how you get it there.
I also realized that just because I'm a old, old fart, that doesn't qualify me for any special award and I'm finally comfortable with that. I'm lookng forward to meeting you again and all the other great VRCC'rs.

SOn old is a myth I know guys in their seventies that can smoke well everyone but me. Smokin is relative. To what bike you are on. Don't never give up and Doctors ain't always right. They kill more people than guns. Rock on Brother. Don't fear what you can't even touch or know. Ride till you drop and then get up and ride some more. AL 68 and still setting records,,,, Don't ever give up and never surrender.,

I used to tell my doctor "you are only as old as you feel". He told me couple yrs ago that I should say " it is only a state of mind " or he would celebrate my 70th B-day tomorrow (I'm 36 now). Many of you "Old Farts" are younger than I am because of your AWESOME outlook on life and the young state of mind. Age is only a number and MANY of you here have proven that. Share your age and wisdom with us...I'm jealous!

Wayne, sure hope it works out for both of us. I'm ten years behind you, RJ and Spirited6 are somewhere in between. I sure hope when I catch up to where you are that I'll also still be able to ride. This summer I'm hoping my post-InZane plans for travel work out, I'd like to stop and visit our old friend RJ on the way through Iowa. Don't tell him I said that, he might send me an email telling me he ain't going to be home.

Nobody should be ashamed to think that they have had to many birthdays. I'm 23, and have more fun riding with VRCC members 2 or 3 times my age. I've tried riding with some younger folk; but with them its always about image, or who has the fastest bike, or Harley vs Honda. I love to ride every chance I get, but always enjoy any trip where VRCC members or "OLD FARTS" meet. Reb

Personally, I don't care if someone knows my age... Hopefully, you won't find yourself looking for work any time soon I had to shave, get a military haircut, lose 35 lbs, and LIE about my age to get a part-time no-pay job. So I really do care if anyone suspects I'm not 40. (I'm almost 54.)

No worries, been retired a number of years. I have a full time job now taking care of my lady love. For her, most days aren't very good, the other days are worse. The one thing she keeps in mind....there's no pain or tears beyond the gate.

I'll fix ya, get me one of those springy clothes pins and clip it on your hose. That'll straighten you up real fast. I'll let you know ahead of time if I can make it down there this year. Was planning on it last year but family stuff came up. That bottle didn't stop our friend Tom Frost(a/k/a Sealskinner) here in Florida. He installed a Voyager trike on his bike, mounted a Hondaline luggage rack behind the sissy bar and put his bottle on that. Had a round case he carried it in, ran the tubes up to the seat for his nose canula. He went all over the southeast that way. We lost him to a number of things, apparently the lung problem didn't let him build his strength up enough to combat the other stuff that came along...mainly bone cancer. Had to admire him, he never gave up until his body couldn't take any more.

Lot of validity to your post, it seems in some folks view, you get stupid when you get older, little hard to find work after you retire, no matter what you retired from, I don't do Walmart greeter, respect those that do though, they probably retired from a more demanding job than anybody they work for now. It seems to me there are only two places where the older generation gets respect. One is church and the other is VRCC postings and gatherings. I retired in 1991, ran for councilman, won and served for 14 years. and I'm still on the Board of Works in our city. I'm presently taking a class in photoshop but I just can't seem to get with it thinking about Inzane XI. The main thing is think young. The second thing is Use it or Lose it, both mentally and physically. Of course, arthritis seems to win in the end but so far...........

John, how do you know how old I am ? You been talking to my wife ? You are right, I`m close to RJ. I will be 76 in March and just as happy as if I had good sence. I think it was Mickey Mantel that said " if I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of my self". That being too many "SMOKES" over the years. I am currently 57, but soetimes I feel much older. I am happy to have made it this far in life, as I've had many friends and coworkers pass on well before this age. When it comes time for my passing, I'd prefer to die having sex or while riding one of my Valkyries. (Having sex and riding a Valk can sometimes be very similar,...well in my mind)

John, how do you know how old I am ? ..... No longer smoke, but like BEER now. Don't recall how I know, I think someone told me at one of the InZanes. We were discussing the oldest rider in attendance and they wondered if you were there. I knew at the time it wasn't me for sure. As for liking beer, it's good on a hot day after working in the yard. Just to show what heavy drinkers my wife and I are....we sometimes will buy a six-pack of the little bottles of Corona, think they're called Coronitas or similar. Then will split a bottle between us....real double-fisted boozers, huh? We'll buy a six-pack about twice a year, it lasts us that long. I heard a C&W song on the radio recently that sorta spells it out; "God is Great, Beer is Good, and People Are Crazy." The writer has a point....I guess!

Well I retired from the military in 81 with 23, thought I needed a job for about a year to be able to fully retire, so hired on with Petroleium Helicopters and 20 years later finally gave it up. Bought a new Valk when I hit 60. Got Psycho on one before he was Psycho, and started a whole train of events that is still going on. 71 now and discovered the joys of Sport bikes a few years ago with the great Kawasaki ZX14. I can tell you 180 mph on two is a kick. Havent ridden much the last couple, bought a new place and been super busy, but thinking about Inzane this year. Still have a couple of Valks, but mostly climb on the ZX or Concours 14 when I decide to ride. Much lighter and easier on the old knees than the big girls. Watched OZs Ride on clip, and was pleased to see two of my Valks and Buddy Johns were shown. Brought back lots of good memories. Also reminded me how much I miss seeing the old bunch, and need to meet the new bunch. Mebby I will see you guys and gals this year. RJ you and Solo hang in there, I am living proof that you can beat bad stuff. My Oncologist claims that I am nothing short of a miracle. RJ I will never forget you guys comming to see me in Omaha. I really needed to see a frindly face about then. Thanks Buddy.
