The current owner no longer wants the property so he's offering to give it away. The sign in front read "Free to a Good Church" but he'll give it to anyone that wants it.
So do you want a hospital?
The property has been fined by the city for being abandoned and dilapadated, now that it's owned, and the current owner has no intention of paying the fines. Because he has openly refused the fines they will not issue him any permits so he cannot legally do anything with the property. He is tired of fighting and ready to get out from under it.
I was hoping the college, located a block up the road, would seize this oppurtunity to expand into a historic building and help revive this part of town. Unfortunately they see it as a good location for a parking lot. They've taken a bid to level the building, which supposedly costs about 250,000 so they'd still have 50 grand an acre invested. I'm hoping they decide that's to much and pass.
I'd rather see someone recycle this landmark.
Although, at this point, anything is better than watching it fall to ruin and disrepair.
So, if you know of anybody looking for a hospital...Lincolnton, NC has one they can have.
