I see sales often that are buy 3 tires, get one free.  Or buy one, get the second at half price.

Next time we see one of these and it's one of the tires that is pretty popular for darksiding, let's get together, buy 4 and then we all get 33% off.  Or 25% off on 2nd at 1/2 price promo.  Either way, it would be a good deal for all involved.

Mine has 28K on it and looks like it might go a while longer, but I wouldn't mind having it's replacement ready to go.

That's why you need an extra one.  When the first one explodes into flames, you're ready with another ticking time bomb!    crazy2

Thanks for the lead on the tire sales.  As for my "daughter", well, my younger son has to marry her first for her to be my "daughter".  I will certainly give heads up if I am heading your way, though.

If this is the size that USUALLY, doesn't require the nut cage mod. Count me in!  I can send a check or MO to the buying party.

P.S.  I will bring my 4.5in Dewalt grinder just in case!

Most car tires USUALLY require the nut cage mod.... and certainly a 205 60.  A 195 might not.  Cutting the nut cage off and using a skinny nut in its place is not a big deal or major modification.  Esp if you ever carry a passenger.

What about the carriage bolt instead?

I need to call Leather Lyke to get some replacement spacers that are not the squishy ones I have.

I have heard that is also another way to go, from inside out.

The nut cage mod was done on mine and I reversed the bolt and put an acorn nut on the outside.  However, I still get some rubbing and it appears to be from the shock mounting bolt, which is more towards the front on the right/drive train side.  This only occurs on two up riding, though.  Any ideas there?

If the nut cage mod doesn't do it, the fender spacer mod should.

I think this is it.  http://www.s2s-accessories.com/photo/fndrmod/

Not to burst the bubble, but there is no such thing as a free lunch.  Tires are a commodity and if your selling them you have to be competitive to stay in business.  When there is a buy 3 get 1 free sale there is always a gimmick.  The price of the tires are "list price" or you have to pay for an installation package or buy some other service.  If you go to Discount Tire or the Tire Rack or any number of other tire retailers you can buy 4 at regular price for less than the buy 3 get 1 free price.  Here is an example of the small print.

Most assuredly, there are gimmicks out there.  But not every deal is a gimmick and I was a VP of Purchasing at a couple of companies so think I can spot the difference.  Never buy the first thing - always compare.  Tire Rack is the control factor I will use as well as Discount Tire.

Different areas of the country have different prices.  On the west coast the average markup on tires is 18% so out here buy three get the forth free (or 25% off) is always a gimmick.

NTB.  Also have to buy premier installation and one year alignment to get it.  So the cost is about the same as buying 4 at the end.

I saw it and got pretty excited until I actually read the fine print.
