just thought i'd post this, esp. for darksiders    cooldude

Q. What do speed ratings really mean?
A. While not recognized by the U.S. Government, speed rating designations indicate that high
speed testing has been performed on the tire. The designation "S" refers to speeds up to 113
mph. "H" refers to speeds up to 130 mph and "V" refers to speeds up to 150 mph.
Q. What is the advantage to identical front and rear tread patterns?
A. Handling dynamics such as straight-on tracking and cornering are enhanced when the same
tread configuration is applied to the road surface by both front and rear tires, provided the
particular tread design is appropriate.s.

Wait till the "darksiders" get hold of this thread!

I know what a cartire rides like and an advantage it ain't.

Just lasts longer for some not all.

And is cheaper sometimes, not always.

Gets a lot of looks and makes you feel you stand out from the crowd.

But are the Dark Siders using this to compensate for other inadequacies?

Keep on believing though.

RIMS
The section "Technical Data" informs about all the permitted rims for that size; the one written in bold is the suggested one. Motorcycle tires must be fitted to motorcycle rims only. New tire marking description foresees the M/C symbol on the sidewall to identify tires that can be fitted on motorcycle rims only.
The correct rim width is important for handling characteristics and stability. Fitting a tire to a too narrow or wide rim changes the tire profile and gives a negative effect to the overall tire performance .

MIX OF BRANDS
Different brands of front and rear tires can lead to riding problems. Unfortunately METZELER is not able to test the METZELER tires in combination with all competitor tires, therefore - for safety reasons - we have to insist in suggesting you to always fit METZELER tires both on front and rear

Just cause you've rode my bike 5 or 6 miles on a major state highway with little to no curves you are qualified to make these statements  Undecided  To the best of my knowledge you've never rode one on a wet road or had to do any emergency braking. I've rode literary thousands of miles with you and you've never had to wait on me in the twisties or otherwise. ( I will give you that one night up on The Dragon when my headlight was so out of adjustment I could'nt see the road ) . I was about as far behind that night as you was on the I-40 Gorge on the New Years Day downpour and for the same reason you said you could'nt see .

And I got your " inadequacies " hangin'  cooldude

Looks like my good buddies Joe and Al are having fun with this one.  I haven't riden a bike with a car tire before but have a lot of friends on several different brands of bikes that have for thousands of miles and every one of them will not go back to a rear motorcycle tire.  I have a car tire like Joe's mounted on a spare rim in the basement waiting on me to get off my ars to grease the splines, install new dampers and the car tire.  I may not like the way it rides and will change it if I don't like it.  But I'm sure going to give it a try cause I do like being able to stop quickly and have better traction on wet roads!
Enjoy the thread!

I've got a new riding buddy, 70yo ex-fed swat cop, who rides his Wing like a kid.  He just went darkside, and I quote ..."Heck, I don't even notice the difference, what was all the BS about?"
