I just bought a National Cycle front and rear fender tip. The front one fitted beautifully, but the rear one seems to be too narrow, it fits around, but does not go deep enough over the fender - the bolds does not reach the holes. If i tilt it, if fits, but then the bolds is lower that the edge of the fender - is there a trick to getting it mounted, or do yo simply have to force the fender to fit by bending it?
Any advice welcome!

Heinno - if yours is like this: then, yes, it was tricky. I measured for the holes, drilled them, and then had trouble. I ended up getting the posts through the holes, and could barely get the nuts started. I alternated tightening them, until they pulled it in quite a bit, then loosened one, put a big flat tight-fitting washer, tightened it, then did the other post. When I finally got it all snugged up, the fender had formed itself to the tip, and all was good. By "measure" for the holes, I mean that I made a template, out of card stock, and marked my holes from that. I ended up elongating one hole, just slightly, because as I tightened it, and the fender formed, the holes didn't quite line up, anymore. Wasn't fun, but worth it in the end... Good luck, R

Had the same experience as Walkure, only on the front. Used the template that came with it and still had to elongate the holes. Haven't decided on a rear one yet. The pic is making me think I should-looks good. By the way, do you dab some paint on the holes before you bolt the tips on? The previous owner of mine had installed mudflaps amd when I took them off there was near dime sized rust around the holes. Had to get a rear fender ext. for the front to cover them and sand/paint the rust spots. Now I'll always put paint on any hole I put in a fender or anywhere else.

Yes, I have looked at the template and noticed the centre line is not centered , and the one hole was higher than the other so I did not use the provided template. Just made my own. My holes lines up perfectly with the bolds, but they do not reach trough the fender. I can force it through, but do not realy want to bend the fender. I guess I have to because the holes have been drilled now,
Yes, I have put some anti rust paint in the holes. I was pretty "sad" to drill into the fenders as - just felt wrong, but I must agree the tips really fit the style of the bike.

Good luck, R Yes,it is like your one. Does yours fit flush now?. Got mine on, but ther is about 2 mm between the inside of the tip and the fender. I could usea calmp and force it some more, but I m sacred something is gonna give...

I needed to elongate the holes too (side to side, not up or down), in order for mine to fit. Seems the bolts are 'square to the fender tips, and the fender is rounded. I elongated the holes to be about the width of 2 of the regular bolt holes. Rear fender tip is just 'bling'... Front tip holds down my 'fender bib'... Black Dog

Got the rear fender done - just needed a bit of bending and reshaping - the tip is now flush and looks really slick....

I have the front tip, but just haven't found the time to get it mounted. Did you guys remove your fender before mounting the tip or did you leave it on the bike?

I left mine on. Figured I could screw it up, just as easy in place, as on the workbench... R

yip. no need to remove. You will need a wrech in the front as the wheel is too close to the fender to allow a socket to fit. Lots of space in the back.

I used fender washers and nylock nuts instead of the supplied nuts to mount the fender tips.
