The other bikes you own might be a clue as to why you are a Valk rider.
1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another?
2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s?
3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s?
4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own?
Just curious.

Honda quit making the bikes we like What's up with that

this time around. Had a Honda CL100, then a Cl350 back in the 70's. Was trying to decide between the Valk and a V-twin of some kind. Valk won out when I heard it run. We bought my wife a Shadow 1100, as she used to ride the 350. She liked it but we found a 98 Standard Valk and she says she moved up to a Cadillac because she could leave it in 5th gear through town at 35 and no bucking and shifting. Then bought a 2000 Goldwing. Nice bike but didn't like it. Traded it for a 99 Interstate. When we ride two up, we ride the Interstate. Best bike we ever had for two up. Wanted a Rocket III since I heard they were coming out. Bought an 05 and then sold the 97 Valk Tourer. Rocket is the hot rod now. Talk about torque and power, it has it all. So when she feels like it she rides the Standard and I ride the Rocket. When she doesn't want to ride I ride the Rocket. When she wants to ride, but not drive, we ride the Interstate, and of course on trips, we ride the Interstate.

In addition to the Valk (my second Valk), I own a 2003 VTX1800. I think I bought the VTX thinking it was time to try something different. I had crashed the Valk (again!) and thought maybe I could do better on another. Well, a few months later I bought another Valk (I missed it.) I don't use either to commute; my wife doesn't ride. The good news is, I haven't wrecked either bike. I need to sell one of them, but don't want to. VTX First Valk Second (current) Valk

What other bikes do you own besides your Valk?
2006 Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom 1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another?
I had two, but only rode one. I'll only get another if I sell the one I currently have. 2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s?
I bought it because I liked it. I got the V-Strom because I wanted an Adventure tourer/dual sport bike to ride offroad. 3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s?
Both 4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own?
She rides with me. I am curious tho, of what you mean by this statement: The other bikes you own might be a clue as to why you are a Valk rider. Please explain.... -Scott

1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another?
I think about anInterstate sometimes, but the garage is only so big and I can onkly ride one at a time. ...and then there is the WAF to think about. (Wife Acceptance Factor)
2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s?
No untility, it's all love of the wind. I also own a 07 Electraglide which I also enjoy
3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s?
No commute, I work from home most of the time and sometimes fly places.
4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own?
It was false advertising, she rode with me at 27 and said she loved it, then we had kids and put down the motorcycles while we raised our children, then when I picked it back up again as I turned 50, she said, "hey, I grew up." Maybe it's better that way, I don't worry it anymore.

1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another? Nope, I can only ride one at a time and I really love riding the one I have .... 2001 Interstate Black & Pearl Beige 2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? I loved the Valk from the minute I saw the 1st commercial and when the oppurtunity presented itself ... I bought a Valk. 3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? The answer to the 1st part is yes or more precisley, riding is my preferred method of travel but living in Northern Illinois limits my riding from December 1 through March 31. The 2nd part is that I had 3 bikes prior to the Valk, a 74 Triumph Bonneville, 83 Honda V45 Sabre and 84 Goldwing Interstat. 4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? Well, when I was married and got the Triumph the wife would ride with me once in a great while but eventually stoped riding. After the divorce, my former girl friend (yes SugarBee & SweeTea I had a girl friend) had my attitude ... let's take the bike ... which is how I got the trailer to tow behind the bike, apparently there was enough room for her shoes in the saddle bags ... and 3 pairs of shoes just wasn't enough shoes ... still got the trailer.

I have a Valkyrie and my wife has a VTX1300C. I use mine to commute in good weather and for pleasure. My wife rides when I ride for pleasure. I bought mine because I thought it was awesome and I bought her's because of style. I have owned predominately Honda bikes since '67. My non-Honda bikes were POS.

Right now have 4 and all are super bikes. Wifemate does not ride at all, but doesnt mind my hobby. Thinking about losing the 2K I/S, as the Concours is a super road machine. If I do, I may go for a dual sport of some sort. Not looking for hard core dirt, but something to do some unmproved roads and mebby a few trails, and still be highway legal. 2K Valk Interstate and 06 Kaw ZX14 in this pic, loaded for Colorado. 97 Valk with a few changes. 08 Concours 1400 soon to be sporting Corbin seat and Smuggler trunk.

The other bikes you own might be a clue as to why you are a Valk rider. 1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another? Hope to some day, but maybe just a standard. Would like to own a HD SE Road Glide. 2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? Wanted something bigger then a 600 VLX and to keep up with my HD buds. 3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? I do both but really love traveling and goin to rallies. 4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? She is currently riding with me but does have her endorsment.

What i mean was that I did not like cruisers and I always rode standard style or sport touring motorcycles. But I felt that I became older I needed a motorcycle with a bit mre utility. By that I meant a bike that had the ability to carry both my wife and myself, along with a few things like jackets, gloves, and have some room for extras if we stop. Thus the I/S replaced my GL1100 standard.
I still can't see the Valk as a cruiser. When I think of a cruiser, I picture a V-twin with comprimized ergonomics. The Valk is definatly not a low power V-twin, it has dual disc brakes and an inverted front forks, grippy radial tires, and real cornering ability. When the Valk first hit the showrooms there were lots of cruisers available but the closest competition was the Royal Star. It had a detuned Touring Bike derived motor, the suspension was marginal, had less than ideal cornering clearance. The Royal Star was genuinely designed as an alternative th HD's without any significant advantages.
Hope this clears up your question to my query.

The other bikes you own might be a clue as to why you are a Valk rider.
1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another? Have a Tourer now. Hope to own a Standard and an Interstate also.
2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? No. Never have.
3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? I do both
4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? Spouse? What's that?
Just curious.
My other bike is an '01 1100 Shadow ACE Tourer. I don't plan on having it much longer. I'll be putting it up for sale next week.

The other bikes you own might be a clue as to why you are a Valk rider.
1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another? I have owned a 1975 CB500, a 1995 Shadow ACE 1100, and my 2000 Valk Tourer. I can only ride one bike at a time, so I only own one at a time.
2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? I bought the Valk because it is the bike I have always wanted. Thought about a Harley, but couldn't justify the cost. Also like the Stratoliner and the Vulcan Touring.
3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? I Commute and pleasure ride, as well as yearly trips (whenever possible). Have been around both Lakes Michigan & Superior, down to the Dragon the the Blue Ridge Parkway and this year...Inzane, here we come!!!!
4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? Wife rode on the back for about a season & 1/2 then took the MSF course and got her license. I had a V-star 650 waiting for her in the garage when she came home from her last class (Talk about scoring brownie points with the wife...surprise her with a motorcycle). She rode that for 2 seasons then switched to a 650 V-Strom that she absolutely LOVES.
Just curious.

2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? Valks are for riding with storage (Tourer = bags), Runes for pleasure (no bags) 3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? ride Valk to work many days. Ride Runes mostly on weekends. Sherry got her Valk mostly to commute and save gas!
4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? on her OWN...OF COURSE!!!!!! She'll NEVER ride on the back again!!! In fact, NONE of our 2 Valks or 2 Runes even have passenger seats!

5 Valks ('00, '01 I/S - '99, '00 Tourer - '03 Standard) and the following: It's going to get sold to make room for a 1400GTR/ZX14 pair or it'll get bagged and have a Road Glide fairing fitted. Two of the Valks ('99 and '03) are Blondie's. She rides when she can. I ride mine all of the time, except when there's snow or slush (and with it, salt) on the roads.

1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another? Riding a 99 I/S.

I would like to have a tourer for riding on short trips.

or maybe one like this.2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? I bought the VALK because of its looks. I bought an Interstate model for the utility.3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? I ride for pleasure and for comutting, sometimes I commute on the bike because it is more pleasureable.

My other bike is an 83' 750 Nighthawk, This one is ridden just for pleasure.4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? She has her own bike but she much prefers to ride on the back of the VALK. She says that the VALK has "SPOILED" her.

1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another? Owned two for a short time. '97 Standard and '99 I/S. If I could have kept both, I would have made the Standard into a "zoomer" for boulevard cruising, etc. But, garage space, time, and money made me sell it... it went to a good home though. 2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? I added hardbags and trunk to the Standard to make more utility for trips... worked great. But after a few long trips, decided that we could step it up a notch and go with an I/S... GLAD WE DID, makes traveling that much better... and an I/S is still great around town.3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? Have a take-home car for work as I am on call 24/7, so only for pleasure.4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? Both, wife has an '07 V Star 650 Classic, which she absolutely loves, she likes the small, lightweight, low factor there. She only likes to do around town riding. If we plan on an all day, or over more than 100+ miles, she becomes a passenger. I actually like it better that way on trips, as I have an extra set of eyes for road hazards, deer, cages, etc. Plus, she takes some awesome blurry pictures

2003 Honda VTX 1300S 2003 Honda ST-1300 Pan American 2005 Honda Aero (Wifes) 1998 Honda VT-1100 American Classic (Sons) 2003 Honda American Classic 750 (Sold) 1982 Yahama 400 (Sold) 1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another?
Not until this one is paid for. Besides I am running out of room in the Garage. My truck already has to sleep outside. 2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s?
I bought my 1st bike based on milage in the early 80's. The others I bought just because I love to ride. 3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s?
Both, I start having withdrawals if I don't ride at least every other day. I don't see how you guy up north handle it. 4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own?
BOTH

I still have Steve's 2005 Honda CBR 1000. He had alot of motorcycles during our marriage, all Honda except he had a ZX11 and a ZX12. Of all the bikes he had I worried when he rode the sport bikes, never imagined it would be a big Valk that would be his last ride and of all the bikes he owned he was most proud of his Valk.

The other bikes you own might be a clue as to why you are a Valk rider. I presently own a 2003 K1200LT BMW, a 2005 Harley Road Glide, a 2004 Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom, and my most recent is the Valk.font]
1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another? Yes I do
2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? I had been keeping an eye out for one cause I liked the looks and have had many Wings, I know they are great bikes[/color] 3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? Both
4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? She rides with me
Just curious.

The other bikes you own might be a clue as to why you are a Valk rider. My Valk is the only bike I own, but I also pretty much have free access to ride my dad's 1995 Goldwing...I maintain it for him since he keeps it in my garage...I probably put 1000 to 1500 miles on it a year. I'd love to add a new Concourse or FJR Sport Touring bike for solo riding, and something like a VStrom or Buell Ulysses (my buddy has one and it is awesome!), or even just a regular smaller dual sport bike (KLR??) but the budget just won't allow it right now.
1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another? I have only my Valk. It is a Standard, but I have often thought of getting an IS. Now I have my Valk fitted with hard bags, cruise control, and music. So I have no need to get an IS at this point. If I ever did "trade up", I think it would be for a new Goldwing.
2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? Prior bikes were a 1977 KZ1000 that I owned from 1990 to 1995. Then I sold it and bought a Suzuki RF90RR sport bike in 1995. After riding it on a few 300+ mile days and 800+ mile weekends that resulted in numb and tingling fingers that lasted for 3-5 days, I decided I had to get something different if i was going to do that type of riding. So I sold it. In the meantime, the Valk had come out and I wanted one. So that is what I went looking for. Then, in 2001, I ran across a smoking deal on this black and silver 1999 Valk Standard...it was used with only 390 miles on it for $9000 . I bought it because I always wanted one since they came out, and have been happy ever since.
3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? I commute as often as possible, but then I only live a short distance from my office (8 miles). Otherwise it is for pleasure riding and errands.
4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? She rides with me, but it is pretty rare. Before she met me, she had never ridden on a motorcycle, but had always wanted to. Then, after we got together, I took her on a few local rides, which she liked but was really nervous. But shortly after that, my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident on his way to work and she was scared. She didn't ride with me for a few years and really didn't want me riding either. We almost didn't get married over the whole deal, but we got past it. She is only now starting to get comfortable with riding again and has asked me to take her on short rides, or if we go out to take the bike which I gladly do. In the meantime, we've had a couple kids....now if we could only find a babysitter...

I have my '99 Interstate and my wife, Sue, has a 2001 Suzuki Intruder 800. She says she'd rather ride with me so I'll be sellin' the Intruder.
I just ride for pleasure and fellowship as I'm retired.
My first motorized 2-wheeler was a boxy old Montgomery Ward scooter for paper delivery. During high school, I had a used Maico (German). And, NOW, the prized Valk!

The other bikes you own might be a clue as to why you are a Valk rider. 77 GL 1000 86 Shadow (gone) 97 Valk (fastest color) 1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another? Well, it sure would be nice, but I don't foresee being able to justify owning two bikes like the Valk. I don't have the money, the room, or the money. 2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? No way, I didn't even want another bike. I have a 77 GL1000 I've restored that I really like. I have always loved Valk's but written them off as too expensive... then one day my wife comes home from work and says a coworker's husband is selling a Valk. I asked "how much?" and she says "3500 bucks" I got in the truck and drove out there and the bike was in great condition, the guy had apparently been trying to sell it for a while and just wanted it gone. I gave him 3200 bucks (I know, I'm bad) and trailered it home. 3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? Yes, I commute or ride for pleasure. I ride as much as I can but my commute is 25 miles with some not so good roads so I drive as much as I ride. The GL1000 is now the wife's bike. She likes riding more than being a passenger. 4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? Yep. She rides the GL1000 but I can tell she's not as fond as the old four as I am. She says you gotta be a mechanic to ride a bike that old... Guilty as charged I guess. I'm gonna buy her a new V-twinkie I think next year. Just curious.

The other bikes you own might be a clue as to why you are a Valk rider. 1. If you only own one Valk, have you any plans to own another? If I hit the lottery I would love an Interstate. 2. Did you buy your Valk on the basis of utility? What about other bike/s? I rode with other Valk rides and fell in love with the bike. The look in unique, the chrome is over the top, and the performance is second to none! I like that .3. Do you commute or just ride for pleasure? What about other bike/s? Do not commute and do not like riding in traffic of interstates....strictly a twisty rider. I've owned a '96 Magna (a great starter bike), an '04 VTX 1300R (probably the most fun I've ever had on a motorcycle....completely burned through a set of floorboards in 20,000 miles), a '00 Valk Interstate (it got away from me), and now I have an '03 standard with less than 9,000 miles on it which I hope will last me for the next 10 years.4. Does your spouse ride with you or on her own? No spouse but I take a hostage every now and then. Just curious.
