I have a 2000 Valk Interstate, Blue/Silver, 44K miles, bag rails, Satellite Radio, AM/FM/CB, Corbin Seat, highway pegs, and more...includes all original parts, and a Larin Lift and Valk adapter, 2 helmets with intercom, Frog Togg Rain Suits, etc.  I'd love to trade the bike for a Jeep Wrangler or Ford Pickup that would allow me to get off road a little to do some photography in the mountains.  I currently have two Mustangs, and they are just too low to go off roading anywhere...I've tried to get a few local dealers to do some trading with me, but they want to take the bike at a "wholesale" price and get "retail" price for their stuff...Just curious as to what I should be expecting on pricing on this bike...I'd like to get about 8-9K out of it if at all possible...am I being realistic?

We'll need pic's.

$8 - 8.5K is very possible.

You should look at CycleTrader.com and CraigsList in your region for comps.

Well dealers are  old school. But low sell high. Thats there business. You will always do better selling it yourself.  Also, take some of the accessories off. I did it on my 03 Wing I sold in the fall and it made a 800 difference. I feel most want to accessorize the way they want anyhow.
Valks just bring good money.  You have reasonable miles and a great color. You should do well with it.
Valk prices have been stable for years.
Good luck.

$2500.00 Canadian. I could fly down this weekend and broker the deal. I'll even deliver...

You'll have to find someone that wants THAT color IMO.

I gave $6K for mine with 32K miles on her last May.

I say everyone thinks THEIR stuff is worth more than it actually is.

Like my 2002 Blue/White Standard.  I have never seen another one.  All the other Blue / Whites I have seen are 2001's.  Not that it matters.  It's probably WORTH $6500.  $10,000 would NOT buy it.  Smiley

It is a fair price-if someone is looking for that combo. I found my stock green and silver i/s at a used car dealership about 100 miles from me last april. They wanted 6800-6900 for said m/c. I put 5800 cash on the desk and drove it home. Still got er. Trust me 15000 wouldn't get me to sell her now. At this point in time-she aint for sale. No amount of money will get her from me!! ; cooldude cooldude

This probably won’t be a popular post. . . but the TRUTH is, outside the Valkyrie community, ALL Valkyries have crashed in price the last 2 years or so.

I’ve seen a lower mileage, decent shape Interstate selling for as low as 5k. . .  . and several for around the 6k area. I failed to pull the trigger on a Standard two years ago my wife and I saw while riding some back roads. I don’t know where the guy got the bike (he didn’t know anything about it) but he was only asking 3k and it appeared flawless and sounded great.

You may very well find someone willing to pay your price.  Since you’re selling, I would concentrate on trying to sell it on THIS board and perhaps other Honda boards. . . .  and post it locally as well. You never know. People can look at a Valk and instantly fall in love with ‘just the looks’, not knowing a thing about bikes at all. Then there’s the performance crowd who’ve heard of the bike and may be willing to pay an inflated price.  Good luck.

Buying and selling is a "crap shoot" You need to remember "what`s it worth to me" If I want it and can pay for it, it`s mine. BUT, if you are going to feel you left money on the table, you just pissed in your hat. I try to STOP looking after I purchase anything, why ?, because you will ALWAYS see one for less !!!! crazy2
I think Valk`s are under priced in todays market. If I had the room I would own more !  Wink and a understanding "WIFE"  Roll Eyes

I keep thinking of stuff after; there is a OLD saying that I love.

Sell the "SIZZLE, NOT THE STEAK"
Valkyries have a lot of sizzle. cooldude

Hi Carl I think that 8 to 9 grand you are thinking of is just fine. You have a great looking bike there with a couple of goodies thrown in as well.
Stick to your guns on price.

Sumpin else to ponder and/or consider. I didn't want to play devils advocate here but-the youngest  of these fine machines is what-8 years old and the oldest is what-14 years old. Granted you know and i know and everyone of us that has one of these fantastic (insert your own superlative here) machines knows what they are capable of and how long they will live. O-k all that being said-not one of us on this board are capable of changing the course you choose to follow!! I really hope you get the amount of money you naad or want-and mostly i hope she finds a good owner. cooldude O-k rant off. As always-RIDE SAFE. tickedoff

Just as a point of clarification - the Interstates were only made from 1999 - 2001.  Oldest would be 12 and youngest would be 10 years old.

I think you are right on for an ASKING price of $8 - $9K.  It all depends on how quickly you want to sell it.  It sure sounds like a nice bike.  If you want it gone quickly, start that price off with a 6 or a 7 and it'll move.  If you can afford to hang onto it for a little while longer - stick to your guns and ask somewhere around the $8 - $9 range.  How far you want to budge off of your asking price for what you'll actually take for it is up to you.

Sure would like to see some pics, though, since it sounds like you've got a really nice bike there.

My question would be:  How bad do you need to sell ?  If you don't need the cash and can afford to wait awhile keep the 10G's on the sign, consider waiting til warmer weather.....set a price in your head that you'll accept and let them haggle you down to that point..stick to your price.
You have a fine looking bike there and should have no problem selling it..

If I was given $25K to buy, I would choose this over that new wing and have a nice trip !!
then I would be trying to figure why it was worth 3 times as much and had zero character.

Something to consider..... rather than selling the bike and buying a truck/jeep..... maybe you could trade it for what you want, something you consider worth the value of your bike.  Hell..... you almost had me considering trading my S10 ZR2 for that IS..... but you sound like a Ford or Jeep man.

I have seen "For Trade" deals listed on CL before and heard of others trading up repeatedly......  and I think there might even be some tax advantages to that as well.

You could even trade one of your two Mustangs and still have the bike, a Mustang and a truck/jeep that you trade a Mustang for.

An excellent idea...duh....that's how I got my Valk and the PO got himself a Corvette...BTW, I got the better part of the deal, lol

Thanks for all the replys...NO, I don't HAVE to sell the bike...I would really like to keep it and just buy a used jeep or Ford Pickup...but, don't have the money to do so right now...the bike has not been ridden a lot in the last few years...but this past week, I've ridden it to work every day, and have re-kindled my love of the bike.  Would I sell her if someone offered me what I wanted?  Probably...I'd sure miss her though...

One dealer around here said the other day after talking to his "motorcycle guy"..."It's a carb bike in a Fuel Injection world now."  I told him "Yeah, but those 6 carbs will run circles around anything you want to put her up against too."  I started the bike up and waved goodbye to the guy...

Again, thanks for all the replys...Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe spring and summer...I plan on doing a little more riding this year myself.
