While washing the IS I found a cable I think running around my right timming cover. Looks like the coating is broke. I have been looking but can not fine in on the parts list. Can someone tell what this is.

Possibly your horn wire?

My I/S has (had) three wires running around there. One was the horn wire, (pair) which got removed when I installed the Steibel.  I think one is for the right side fog light in the pod, but not sure.  Don't know what the other one is, but one of them has pretty heavy, thick insulation, with a lighter plastic cover on it.  That may be what you are seeing that appears to be a cable.  I don't KNOW for sure, but do not think there is a CABLE in there.  I do know that with all three of them in there, getting the valve cover on is a severe PIA and it is possible that the outer plastic cover may have gotten broken.  I could only really see all this when the valve cover was off for valve adjusting.  Stan

OK Thanks,
I'll have to look closer. I guess I should tape it up if it's not a cable. I don't think I ever noticed it on my 98 T.

two of those wires are on every valk.....the IS has the additional horn wires because of its different location on the crash bar.  The other two wires, one goes to the oil pressure sending unit and the other one heads up into the motor, maybe temperature related........either way those are the wires that need to be disconnected to move outta the way when r/r the right side cover

What Chris said.
But they do not need to be disconnected to remove the valve cover (at least on the three engines I removed the cover from). Careful is the operative word or you will put the cover on only to find out it isn't on-and oil will go all over when you start it. First of three taught me that!
