After completing a celestial navigation training course in the Navy, I was eager to show off my new knowledge of the stars to my date for the evening.  “That’s Regulus,” I said confidently, “and there’s Polaris, the North Star.”  Impressed, she pointed to a bright light on the horizon.  “And what is that?” she asked.  “Oh. That’s Venus,” I replied.  “Note the steady light typical of planets,” Her awe quickly turned to amusement, however, when “Venus” slowly drew nearer, turned and began to lower its wheels for landing.
