For those of you that live on the edge and have crossed over-Do you think a T speed rating to low or just stick with the V and W speed ratings?? Sizes being considered 205-60-16 or hopefully 205-65-16. any and all positive feedback-TIA. as always[/color ride safe

Hey Old2Soon , something to think about , this was told to me that the higher speed rated tires have a stiffer side wall and it MIGHT make it a little hard to turn a circle like in a cul-de-sac or trying to do a turn around having and having to duck paddle on one leg to make the turn around ... but how often do we go in circles or turn around ?  uglystupid2 but on the other hand a stiff side wall won't flex much if your loaded down and riding two up .......  I myself have the lower rated tire a Michelin Pilot 205-55 series and have no problems turning ... Thanks the Geezer crazy2

I would recoomend the H rating tires. I have the Goodyear Tripletred 205-60-16 and a Dunlop D404 Rear tire on the front and they are both H rated. Also, I would stay away from the 205-65 Series. 205-55 or 60 is great and you will not experience the rubbing. With the 55 or 60 series  some even get away without doing the Nutcage Mod but i did one on mine just to be sure. There is also a rear fender mod also that you can do if you do go to the 65 series.

H rated is fine.... it's H rated for a car!!  A more flexible CAR tire sidewall is very helpful to minimize the standing-up-in-the-corners effect.

Old,

I just took off a falken 512 (third one, ordered two more)  The one I took off still has life left in it but I needed to take it off because I didn't have the tools to break the bead to put new valve stems on so I said, "screw it! if I gotta pay to break the bead I might as well put on a new tire.  If you want it you are welcome to have it for free.  I think their is still 8k miles left on it.  It would allow you to see if you like the DS w/o spending the money on a tire.

I run an H rated 205/65-16 Toyo Proxes and don't have a problem dragging pegs in parking lots or while turning.  Smokin Joe certainly doesn't have a problem with his Z rated Coopers.

A stiffer sidewall does not make the bike difficult to turn, turning is a bit different on the DS tire, but not difficult even with a very stiff sidewall.
The advantage to the stiffer sidewall is that it "firms up" the rear end. I hate the 'mushy' feeling of a soft sidewall and a lot of the complaints I have heard from people who have gone DS I suspect are from exactly this. I would suggest a very stiff sidewall, and that generally means higher speed ratings.

Opinions are my own, you mileage may vary.
