They are evacuating Lake Tanglewood today for fire danger and highlines being blown down. Canyon (bout 15 mi S of me) has lost a few homes to fires. Borger is under fire advisory.  50 mph winds and gusts to 70. Not a good day to ride. Dry and windy are bad combinations.

Last Friday our house was covered in smoke for 14 hours. They got the fire stopped only 1/4 mile from our house. Only because the winds died down and shifted from ssw to nnw over the course of a few hours. Ambers would fly up and ignite 1/4 to 1/3 ahead of the fires. Scary stuff. We planned on staying at our house and had all the garden hoses hooked up. We already evacuated all the horses.
Luckily it didn't get to our house. We have the same threat here this afternoon, only it's less likely because there is hardly no fuel left in the direction the wind is coming from. Except for about a 1/4 of a mile. It would be impossible to outrun a fire like that, even on a motorcycle.  TJ

We got break in winds today, lots of homes gone, multiple counties with thousands of acres gone from Lubbock to Borger.  Winds will be back tomorrow.  Same here Bandit, lots of CRP fuel around.

Well, Bandit, I hope that you get called for the clean-up.  Not, because of new fires.
