Have read some, but not found if any one has used this shifter. Looks as if it would work...just have to position and drill/tap the mounting hole in the foot rest mounting plate.
Does anyone have any knowledge with this shifter???

The customer review gave it only one star, claiming it bound up more than it shifted smoothly.

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO INVITE THAT KIND OF TROUBLE ON-BOARD WITH YOU?  I'LL BET THAT IT ABSOLUTLY WILL BIND UP MORE THAM IT WILL WORK PROPERLY.

Just asking,
but from a mechanical point of view, binding is more likely due to not being adjusted properly, or just plane too tight.
But if ya don't ask, ya don't know...

I had bought the heel-toe shift with floorboards, used it for one weekend, and then removed them because of the binding.

I also didn't like the feel, so didn't want to keep them. If I did, I was going to remove the rubber from the stock shifter, thereby eliminating that binding (I hoped).

I have an additional peg on the engine guard.



Took a little adjusting at first but I've since put 25k on them without incident. I love all the foot positions on long trips.

Looking at the first 2 photos, the rigging seems AWFULLY low.... but then again at your photo it does not seem so bad. How is the banking with those on? Also, does it seem to work well on fast shifting? Reason for me asking, is that at first I was appalled on the gearbox of my dear bike ( I was quite convinced it must have come from a Massey Ferguson  Evil ) but then later on learned that the faster you shift, the better it works. The trick seems to be in upshifting first "pre-lift" the lever to eliminate the play, and then shift real fast, only just disengaging the clutch. Or at least that seems to work for me....

A friend of mine had a set like this on his GL1200 when he bought it (the set from the first opst, not the foreward setup). He hated them because the pegs are so close together that he couldn't find a comfortable/safe spot on the rider's peg to put his big feet down without contacting the shifters. Then, lifting his size 13 boot off the peg to get on the shifter to downshift, he'd catch his heel and then miss the toe peg.
Jack didn't feel safe on the bike till he got this thing off.
Just sayin'.

i looked at that a while back.then went with a rattlebars shifter. the length is about 1-1/2" shorter than a rattlebar and sucks! other than that the design is identical.

I have a set on my GL1500.  Shifter and floorboards were on the bike when I bought it...only took a short while to get used to them...I especially like the boards on long rides...have bad knees and the boards give me some room to move a bit more than pegs.  When I talk to people about them seems like the Yankees...either love 'em or hate 'em.

Everything is above the exhaust... just took a look .... Best I can tell, I don't think you'll drag these unless you're already dragging your stock driver's pegs. I've not had a problem.

I have run Chet's (Rattlebars) Kick Shifter since the 2nd run of his product.  That was like in 98 or so.  Still have the SS nuts for spacers.

242K+ miles later, you'd have to knock me unconscious to get it off my bike.

Love it, and have not missed a fast shift since.   I don't preload it, I just bang on the peg and let her rip.

There are a lot of copies of his around,, but none of them are the same quality.  Even Kuyak's sucks in my opinion, but some people love it.

Basically it is what ya put on and get used to.   It is your choice.

+1 I agree with RJ,  I have used  Chet's (Rattlebars) Kick Shifter  for the last couple of years and i think it is great.  I can not comment on the boards.  This shifter is solid in uses, shifts are good.  Very little maintence required.   (no associanation with Rattlebars, yada yada yada.

That sounds like high enough.... and your photo confirms. And yes, if you're down dragging pegs already, you do not have really that much room to go anymore anyway Evil

Got you now B. I was not even thinking about the highway pegs when shifting but yes, now that you spelled it out for me ( DUH ) it seems indeed that the setup would allow for a convenient downshifting with heel from the pegs.

Not a day wasted, learned something new again  Grin

What is the difference from Chets to the Kury of the same design?
