Apologies up front, I'm more of a computer geek than a wrench turner, but I do most of the work on my Valk. After 100,000 miles, it was time to replace the front brake rotors, so I googled around and read the posts about using GL1800 front rotors on the front of the Valk, so I proceeded to order a pair (Left and right).

They came in, I replaced the rotors, and changed the brake pads as well (Long story, I actually replaced the calipers themselves, twice, but that's another story...)

Anyway... Got everything button'ed back up, took a quick ride around the block and it was NOISY. Quickly brought it back home, the left side rotor was _HOT_. Got a flash light out and looked up in there, the caliper is rubbing against the rotor. That can't be right... Anyone ever seen this before with the GL1800 rotors? Everything looks like it's put together right as far as I can tell, but obviously something ain't right... Any ideas?

The right side caliper/rotor looks fine as far as I can tell, it's just the left side that's screwy.

Here are some pics, they're pretty crappy, real hard area to get a picture of:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Take a glance at picture #3 I think it is.

Axle not flush with the fork tube.

Has to be flush.

RJ nailed it... I didn't have the axle mashed all the way in, had to loosen the pinch bolts, the axle nut and take a rubber attitude adjuster to the axle to get it fully seated... (And then re-tighten the front end in the proper order of left pinch bolts, axle nut, right pinch bolts.)

I think when I put it back together the first time I figured tightening the axle nut would pull the axle into position, nope, it bit in and tightened up without pulling the axle all the way into position...

Oh... And Tropic Traveler - Whenever the weather's nice enough to go outside and wash her, I notice the weather also happens to be nice enough to hop on her and go for a ride... I try to go wash her, I really do!
