I have question here for Ricky-D. I did not know the filter media also absorbed moisture. I thought that was reason for changing oil by not only miles but the number of months in sat in the motor if not run. Is this hype too from the oil companies to sell more oil?

Duh!

I use the Pure One pl14610 filter and have for the last 30k miles yes it does have better filtering it also has a bypass valve that lets the oil bypass the filter and the valve opens at 14 psi same as Honda filter. A good portion of filters have this encase the filter gets clogged so there wont be a serious restriction or if the oil is really cold. It has a thicker case cannot puncture it and I like the silicon seals. Plus the filter medium may be more restrictive but there is more of it.  Engine has a bypass too if the pressure gets to high so its all a bunch of bs.
