Has anyone ever tried putting a 2001-2010 cd changer for a Gold Wing into a Interstate? The I/S has a round 13 pin connector and the Gold Wing has a rectangular connector. Or... does anyone have the wiring schematic for the Hondaline controller. If I could find what each of the 13 pins does, maybe I can figure it out. I don't have a GW changer, I bought a J&M MP3 player that hooks up to the GW cd changer connector: http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/29640_J_M_Honda_GL1800_Digital_Music_Player_ChangerAnd want to install it into my 2000 I/S. Thanks! George

Hi i bought a mp3 player that hooks up to the aux. wire --runs right thru the radio --bought a booster from raido shack and it sounds real good --you can buy a mp3 player that holds all the music you would ever need ---it plugs right in to the ear phone jack just had to buy a longer wire at radio shack for around 9.00 i think the mp3 was 50.00 a friend had this put on this bike last year at wing ding and it locked up on him alot --called the seller and needed to replace it allready --

I agree, why take up the real estate for a CD changer when the Interstate was deisigned from Honda to accept an iPod/MP3 player? Can it be done....with enough time and money sure, but why? On the Interstate, pull the right side cover, look, look and then look again for the factory installed 3.5mm female receptacle. That's where you can plug in an extension line to your iPod/MP3 player. Use AUX on the radio controls and have at it. My iPod typically resides in my tank strap pouch. YMMV, Mark

Same here. 16GB iPod, 9GB of MP3 files works out to 7 days of music/voice/comedy without repeating. Added a cig lighter under the seat in the tool tray to run the iPod indefinitely. Fits in the tank-bib pouch or just stick it in the tank bag on long trips. Play thru speakers or helmet headset; finest kind. Fred.

Been there, done that... I got a spare case for my 80gb iPod and velcro'd it to a mount on my handlebar. But of course, the 80 gb is a hard drive based player and the potholes here in upstate NY almost ruined it. It would skip every time I hit a bump.
So..... I bought a Sandisk 2 gb flash player and put it in the same spot. But a basic MP3 player doesn't do playlists. And, if I get to a song that for some reason I don't want to listen to, I have to take my hands off the bar to change the song.
The J&M device I picked up is supposed to work with the built in controls for the cd changer, Just move my thumb up to the controller to change song, disc etc...
Looks like a cool gadget, and I'm into gadgets!

The Goldwing comes with a CD changer, at least as an option; the Interstate doesn't. Interesting idea. If you can make it work, I'd be interested, except there's no CD controls on the I/S control pod... Fred.

Hi even if you can wire it into the system you wont be able to change the song because the interstate dont have a cd system just aux. so im thinkin it would be the same as runnin thru the aux. they might sell something you can hook up but it seems like alot of work --i dont have a big problem hitin the button to change the song let us know if you can make this work -i checked last year at wing ding and the seller their said it cant be hooked up to my bike --Good Luck !!![img]

The I/S has a CD plug built into the radio. That implies that there is a way for the CD to be controlled from the pod controls. The CD isn't acknowledged by the electronics, but the CB isn't either, if it isn't plugged in...

Rocketman, Thank you so much! I thought I was going crazy all morning.... I know that I have my bike apart and I KNOW that there is a 13 pin plug for a CD changer attached to the radio. I do have the CB and it works fine. I've been searching all morning for a pdf of the owners manual to confirm that when I push the power button on the side of my controls, one of the options that pops up on my screen is CD. I know I have radio, CB, AUX, and am wracking my brain to remember if it also says CD. I guess when I get home later I'll have to power up the bike (I have the battery out for the winter) and see what cycles through. At lease someone else knows that there is a CD plug!

Ok, I'm not crazy... got home and powered up the bike. As soon as you turn on the key, the LCD screen shows all available messages. On the top row is CB, AM/FM, AUX and CD. I tried cycling through the options with the radio power button and it goes from radio to AUX and then to CB. I think the CD option will show up if something is plugged into the 13 pin adapter.

if the interstate has a cd option then you would think they have an adaptor for it --i checked with the installer at wing ding last year and he said he cant install on my interstate- ---this unit you show[ i think] is also a hard drive unit i might be wrong but you might have the same problems you had with the ipod with hard drive --i have a cheep mp3 player that i velcro to the bottom of the windshield and it never skips --works great and we have alot of potholes in chicago -i have a trike and i know it hits harder that a two wheeler -hope you find a way to make this work !!!! GOOD LUCK !!!

$349????
I paid $69 for it at wingstuff.com. And it isn't a hard drive player, it uses a SD card.
