This is no Yoke

This is no Yoke, Extended Backorder on driveline Yoke. I lost my drive shaft U-joint (Yoke in Honda terminology) back in June of 2010. I ordered one out and found out later that it became back-ordered. Well, a back order usually takes a few extra days or a couple of weeks. In this case, Honda changed vendors and said it would be delayed until mid-February of 2011.
Well it is now March and it still is not in production. They say it will be March 31 before they will be available. When I called this morning, they were in meetings, so I had to wait an extra hour before they would answer the phone. So in my closing minute, I tried to encourage Honda to have less meetings and make more parts.
I just bought a Suzuki to ride while my parts are being made..........

Save ALL the old ones!!! No matter what the damage. I just need one to disassemble and examine. 75 bucks for a new one is easy enough until there are NO new ones. I'll find a way, some one makes the U joint and we'll rebuild if we must!

I was under the impression that there were some other Honda ones that were the same as the Valk? No? Anyway, I broke mine in 2009 coming home from the Dragon. . .  Didn't have ANY problem getting a replacement. That big of change in a single year? Wow. . .

Someone here used one from a Honda Civic, or maybe it was a CRV.  Regardless, a search will find it.

Just as a side note these more than likely can be rebuilt. I know that the caps are held in by the tabs being peened over but I have rebuilt these kind before with good results the problem comes in when trying to find the correct u joint. When assembling the joint a punch or even sometimes cutting a small groove and putting in a locking ring. It is very doable and even some machine shops can do the work for you. I would hate not to be riding my Valk for a back-ordered part.

I currently have a u-joint from a 2002 and newer Honda CR-V in my 99 Tourer.  The caps are tack welded into the yoke ears.  600 miles and no troubles.  Plus there is an inverted zerk fitting so it can be greased.
Does it fit out of the box?  If so this is a real break through.    Hoser

Yes.  I took my old u-joint into a local drive line service shop, he took all the measurements, pulled the new Spicer off the shelf, three hours later and about $60.00 I was good to go.

I don't recall the part number, but maybe it was 930-04?
