Neighbor just bought a 2002 Valk and it has a aux fuel tank located under the bike just in front of the rear tire. When you turn the key on you can hear a fuel pump cut on does anyone know or have had experience with this type of aux tank and how it works ?

I've had a belly tank since late 2006.  Expensive, but the peace of mind is worth it to carry more gas.

Have had no issues with it.   I'm planning to pick up a spare fuel pump just in case, although I'm told I'll never need it.  When you lift the bike, you jack it up a little differently with the belly tank underneath.

Eliminates the chance of hydro-lock.

I'm glad I have mine..  I bought the last one Roger had at  InZane 6 in Frisco 5 years ago..it's the 2.6 gallon version rather than the 3.0 gal.   The 2.6 is a little narrower to allow for 6 into 6 pipes (which I don't have).  But with the tank, it extends my ride out to  200 miles for sure between fill ups and if you take it easy, probably over 240 miles.

Thanks guys for the info Wife has a 98 would like to have the belly tank to increase her mileage I ride a wing so would like her bike to go 200 before fuel. But we cant use the 3 gal tank because her bike has the Cobra 6 into 6 pipes so would have to get the smaller tank.

If I understand correct the main tank supplies fuel to the res tank and then the fuel is pumped to the pet rooster and supplied to the carbs. When the main and res are emptied and you switch the pet rooster to res position the res fuel runs down into the res tank and is pumped back to the pet rooster. Is this understanding correct.

You're correct on how it works. One word of advice, don't pinch the vent line. Don't ask me how I know but after a $350 U-Haul truck rental to get my bike home Roger from RM was a great help trouble shooting the problem.

Just a point of clarification here... the fuel pump on the belly tank does not supply the petcock. With a belly tank, the line running from belly tank to petcock is merely a vent line except when turned to reserve.  "Reserve fuel" in the main tank drains to the belly tank and it becomes a vent line again.

The belly tank fuel pump... it pumps directly to the carbs.
