I would like to introduce myself to you all. I have been lurking on this forum for several years, using the search and tech/shoptalk for help with my valk. I finally decided to join in on the fun. I have been a member of the "Valkyrie Owners" forum for several years and found that forum helpfull also. Since my "handle" of "oldman", which I have used on other forums, was taken by fellow rider in Texas, I changed the spelling of "old" to "0le". Hopefully no one get confused.
WE, my DW and I, live in Klamath Falls Or. South Central OR, on the East side of the Cascade Range (Dry Side). We purchase our Valk (Green/Silver '99 I/S) in 08/08 from a gentleman in Reno, NV while we were living in Susanville, CA. So far we have put nearly 30K on the Lady. About 2/3 of that mileage is Two Up riding, though when the temps fall below 60, DW does not go with me. We are pretty lucky in this part of the world that I can ride most of the winter, just have to watch the weahter. Normally between November and end of March, I can ride the Lady at least once a month. Since we moved to the Klamath Basin last may, I have found a bunch of two lane county roads that can be ridden during the winter months. One stays out of the high country this time of the year.
So far I have only made a few changes/repairs to Valk. New windshild, U-Joint, Left hand control unit, replaced floor floorboards with pegs, and went with a Dark Side tire.

I think that the majority of this membership could be classified as old men, or at least approaching that distinction. Welcome to the group. Just remember, wisdom comes with age. (sometimes!)...JTL

Art we'll have to hook up when you get settled, Grants Pass is about a two hour ride from here. Just enough to get the Ole Lady warmed up. Are you anywhere near Happy Camp Ca. ?
Larry, Happy Camp is about 150 miles from here, about a 3 hour ride (some crooked roads and some super slab). For some reason, I haven't ridden there, but is on my list of places to go. I didn't mention that I was a "retired oldman", so get to go for rides whenever the weather is good.

to those of us that live in the great north wet, if we waited untill the weather is good we loose a great deal of ride time.
Cant say I am retired but I do manage 3 day weekends if anyonje is up for a ride.

MisFit suggested: Welcome. Come to MI this summer and play with us. You won't be disappointed. Would love to, but not sure I can afford the 2400 mile (4800 rt) ride with todays gas prices. AND sort of committed to a "ride in" in Northern CA on those dates. Need to have your InZane closer to the middle of the country, Like the Rockies, for us living on the West Coast.
