if I remember right there are a couple of different strengths of Techron. Can someone please clarify which is the best for use in cleaning up carbs?

That's news to me. The only Techron I see is in a black bottle, comes in two sizes.

i'll have to look.

if i remember correctly Techron comes in 12, 16 and 20 oz sizes. Seems like I heard at one time the 16 oz was higher concentration.

Used the Techron in the black bottle from Wally in the black 'n silver 99. Had a bit of a rough idle & stumble from sitting up too long. Doubled the concentration, ran that out then put the recommended dose in after that. Worked real well, cleared it right up.  cooldude
Good stuff.

I have only seen one techron if you don't count the the gm fuel injection cleaner you can buy at your local gm shop. It is the same stuff same bottle just labeled with gm sticker. Good stuff most of the rest is just isopropyl and not worth the bottle it is in. I use stabil for starage in all my stuff with good results. One other good product IMO is BG 44K.NO I DO NOT SELL IT OR PROFIT JUST HAD GOOD RESULTS IN CARS WITH IT JUST MY 2 CENTS.(i work for a chevy dealer)full discloser.

Comes in a bottle good for 12 gallons and a bottle good up to 20 gallons. I bought some Saturday to run thru wifes F150  cured an off idle  miss and it idles smoother too. Ford tech told me to do this about evey 5 thousand miles to keep everything clean.

The material in the 16 ounce container is not itself more concentrated, but 16 ounces in 5 gallons of gasoline does provide a higher concentration than does 12 ounces in 5 gallons.

thanks, but there's actually a fuel additive called BG44k that i've known mechanics who swear by
i did a quick google search and looks like NAPA and some repair shops carry it. i'll give the techron a try this week

after getting a new battery and using up all the old fuel and replacing it with fresh.

You will need to find a shop that sells bg products you might try looking at bg's wed site to find a dealer near you. they do not retail the product they only sell to repair shops dealers and independent you shoul be able to find one close by.

I noticed Two types the other day, one is used to treat a larger tank. I used the less concentrated one. I swear by the stuff.

The bottles of Techron are the same strength.  It is the amount of Techron in the bottle that is different.  That's why one is sized for 20 gallons of fuel and the other is for 12 gallons.  It's kinda like a 20 oz. bottle of Coke and a 2 liter bottle.  It's the same Coke, just different size bottles.

Actually, there appears to be two different strengths.

The one on the right I bought at Advance auto for $7.99(2 for 1)is 12oz and the one on the left at Walmart for $6.47 is 10oz.
The Walmart one says treats more with less packaging in the circle at the top of the pic that I half cut off. I don't know if it really is stronger, but they imply that it is.  Might just be a cost cutting measure though.

Bought some at Advance Auto yesterday.  The "treats 12 gallons" labelled bottle was buy one, get one free.

Good time to stock up.  Don't know how long the sale lasts.

That's exactly what I buy, the 12oz. That's just a 1/2 bottle to a tank cooldude

the BG44 is the very best made, but is very caustic and i only use the high priced stuff if i have a bike that is really clogged up. its the last (should be the first) thing they reccomend for gummed up jets, just before you get pissed and tear the carbs out.

i add a couple oz. of MMO every once in a while. keeps the carbs squeeky clean and also cuts the carbon out of the upper cyl. and when added to the oil about a hundred or so miles before about every 3 to 4 oil changes will clean up any sludge thats lurking in the engine.

big plus is that it costs about a nickel a barrel, (well a bit more than that, but only a few bucks a bottle)

try it you'll like it, been around forever.

regaine by gumout, cheaper than techron and works just as well.

best ones to use techron, amsoil PI, redline and regaine. in no particular order all are considered the best to use
check out www.bobistheoilguy.com they list those four and also a few others that are for most a mail order item.
