Ya, I searched the whole "fork seal" posts and did not find what I was looking for. I'm taking my 2000 Standard to the mechanic this week, he has worked on older bikes for many years but never on a Valk (he put a new front tire on for me) and is somewhat unfamiliar with them. Not that he is not a good mechanic, he really knows his stuff about most bikes. I'd like to take him some step by step instructions for changing the fork seals, than I'll feel a whole lot better about taking the bike to him. Can I get some help here? I've seen the fork spring change in Shoptalk, but think I might need more info for the seal job??? Does anyone have the instructions for changing them without taking the forks off that they could email to me or give me the correct link. None of the older links work any more. Thanks.

Heck, the manual is very good in this area and will address all the issues that could arise.
You should have the manual regardless.

The manual is great and I wouldn't be without one (or both). But there are places where Honda describes procedures that are far more complicated than necessary. For instance, the owners manual tells you to remove the entire exhaust system in order to take off the rear wheel!
Same is true with the fork seals. If you need to replace the seals and/or bushings, along with the oil, it simply isn't necessary to take the fork apart as Honda describes.

Fork seals are so easy to change, that a woman could do it. One did at the GOTF this year. With a few others guidance  |

I own A 1999 Valkyrie Tourer which is leaking from the left fork seal. Is it possible for someone in the group could also send me the step by step procedure for changing the seals.

same boat..forks leaked over the cold wisc winter last yr. asked a goldwing guy about changing seals..not to bad..then aked , cuz i dont know..i might wanna put progressive tubes in..might alreadyb..came w/ air rear..then it got way more complicated an expensive..the seals and charging aint bad..
